About this house rental
Each season of the year offers something special for your stay.
In the summertime, cool off in the pool or bask in the sun on the deck. Bring your own kayak or rent one in downtown Brattleboro for a peaceful paddle on the Connecticut and West Rivers. Hiking trails abound, with local Rattlesnake Mountain (Mount Wantastiquet) an 11-minute drive. Visit Walker Farm Stand, 5 minutes from the house, to buy fresh produce, flowers, and baked goods, or drive a bit further up the road to Harlow's farm to pick your own fresh strawberries or blueberries. Leave the car in the driveway and take a walk from the house up the old dirt road to the Elysian Hills Christmas tree farm for a stunning view of Vermont's unique beauty. From here, explore the various public trails abutting the property.
In fall, enjoy the stunning foliage while you sip coffee from the front porch. Take a short drive up nearby Kipling Road to historic Scott's farm for some fresh apples and baked goods. Walk the woodland trails and dirt roads, or hike the surrounding mountain trails -- the foliage is second to none.
In winter, enjoy some quiet time in the cozy living room, or go for a snowy walk up the hill. Go into town and explore antique shops, bookstores, coffeeshops, restaurants, and bars, or take in a movie at the historic Latchis Theater. Go sledding or ice skating at Brattleboro's Living Memorial Park or go skiing at one of several nearby ski areas. Mt. Snow Resort is a 35-minute drive, and with Stratton, Magic, Prospect, and Berkshire Mountain ski resorts all less than an hour away you'll find our cozy house in Dummerston a great spot for a ski vacation.
Early spring brings maple sugar season. Sample some freshly made syrup or enjoy a pancake breakfast at one of the many sugar houses in the area. Hop in the car and head to the Vermont Country Store, a 30-minute drive away, for some fantastic gifts any time of year.
