The accommodation served its purpose for what we needed it for, which was a short stop over for my daughter's birthday. We were disappointed with how everything was communicated, even texting us whilst we were out having a meal at 18:55 to ask what time we were checking out, which had been prearranged the day before for 11am. On the morning of check out, we then receive another message asking us to promptly check out at 10am as they can arrange cleaners, to which I replied 11am has been prearranged. The response then said we will honour this as a good will gesture - they love this saying by the way - and management will absorb the late charges. I couldn't believe it. I literally spoke to someone who told me they were happy with an 11am check out, we checked out at 10:27 and no cleaners in site. ID was the other issue. They wanted a copy of every adults ID to be sent via email - I was not comfortable with this at all. It was agreed I just send mine. They also charge for late check in even though there is a key box, why is there a late charge when there is a key box, I mean I could go on about what other charges there are in their terms and conditions, but I was expecting to be renting a palace with the fuss that was being made.
It is very difficult to give this property a good review & this is due to the way things were communicated & definitely something booking.com need to look into when it comes to this property. I feel I do not want others to get caught out. The actual price we paid was quite acceptable at first until we were given an extra charge for an extra two family members who wanted to join us, even though the apartment was suited for 9 guests. They charged us an extra £100. I did some research on what this property normally charges based on 9 guests and discovered the £100 charge they charged us was unnecessary, as what we originally were paying, was actually more or less what they charge for 9 guests. When I explained this to the apartment services they just fobbed me off with some story about me booking early and I would have had an early booking discount - well I actually checked several dates, recent and in advanced. So we felt as a family they saw they could earn an extra £100. This did not go through the booking.com either & went directly through a bank transfer - they had us over a barrel, as they refundable date had already passed, so we had to suck up this extra charge, to not spoil my daughter's birthday weekend and they knew that. Once full payment was taken, we were then AND NOT BEFORE sent a list of terms and conditions as long as my arm. We are a family, who often go away as a group & stay in lodges, cottages, apartments and none of us have ever read such terms and conditions like it - and again, I stress, these were sent after full payment was taken, so again no way to ask for a refund as we were passed the time. These terms and conditions should be shared prior to the full payment so we as customers can decide whether we are happy with them. Some of these conditions do feature on the apartment information on booking.com but nowhere near all of them. I could go on but I have run out of characters to type.
