SPIRE VIEW at THE SPREAD EAGLE

Cooked breakfast was excellent. Location was superb and very central to everything, especially busses and train station. Room was big and very clean. Dinner was excellent and freshly cooked with a huge selection of food and tapas and very reasonably priced. Good selection of beers and wines.

There was no Continental breakfast so should not be advertised that this is provided!!! No cereal, croissants or fresh fruit at breakfast. Just toast and jam as the continental option. A pot of fresh coffee would have been nice!! The light grey Towels in the bedroom need to binned as they were disgusting and very badly marked with no texture either.

Room was comfortable. Wifi worked well. Continental breakfast was good. Staff were very accommodating as I needed to store my bag while I visited the town.

The room was very warm. It would have been more comfortable if the window could be opened to help with air circulation.

Bedroom was extermely comfortable with excellent facilties. Accommodation is nicely located and car parking arrangements were first-class. Breakfast was really disappointing though - through the meagre menu (no cereal; only 3 cooked choices, one of which was vegetarian), the lack of any guidance on how to order, or that toast and coffee/tea were all self-made and a really offhand approach by staff...how are customers expected to know that they need to go to a hatch to the kitchen to order their choices ? Friendly or helpful inter-action with customers was non-existent.

It would be a good idea for managenent to test breakfast service and menu for themselves and put themselves in the shoes of a first-time visitor. A re-think of the menu and some staff training would probably go a long way in raising breakfasts to an acceptable standard. The difference between the quality of the bedrooms and breakfast service was astonising.
