Kunsel was an amazing host. He was so kind to show us his family's worship room while explaining their religious values. He also showed us the Tibetan Refugee Center and explained the history while giving us a tour of the place. Also he was flexible when our plans changed several times. Kunsel's place is newly built. The bed was comfy. The view from the roof is incredible. We got to see Kanchenjunga when it was sunny and clear enough. We also enjoyed the breakfasts Kunsel's mother served. Each morning, it was different. Simple and tasty. We also took a walk up the hills and eventually got to Chow Rasta, based on Kunsel's recommendation. It was no more than 30 mins to get there and back. While we were walking, we got to see how locals live up in the hills and personally, walking was a far better way to get to Chow Rasta/Mall Road than getting in shared taxi. Being away from Mall Road and busyness was best way to get away. But perhaps, the best thing about Guru's Abode was the proximity to the Tibetan Refugee Center and Kunsel's family heritage there. Tibetan's history and influence is significant there and my friends and I learned so much about their history and culture while staying at Guru's Abode.
The only thing we didn't like was the smell of the bathroom. The humidity doesn't help. Opening the window does help though.

I went there with my family including 2 kids, and it's A prefect place to have a quite relaxing rest , the hospitality and warmth of both the owner and his mom were exceptional and made us feel home , the room is also quite comfortable and cozy place and they really helped us out on our personal urgent issue
It's a little far from city center
