CASA della GIOIA

What stood out to me most about my stay at Casa della Gioia was the willingness of the owner to personally pick me up at the train station upon my arrival in Caltagirone. As an older lady traveling alone, I felt insecure upon arriving at a strange train station and place I had never been before. Francesco also picked me up at the accommodation very early in the morning on the last day of my stay to take me to the bus station so that I could catch a bus to Palermo in time at 06:00 in the morning. He did not ask for any extra compensation for this and I would like to thank him again for that!

The many stairs! Luckily the owner, Francesco, was very helpful and carried my luggage up all the stairs to my room! Although the owner, Francesco, went out of his way to be helpful to me, the fact that he could not communicate in English was somewhat problematic. Very, very poor wifi connection! It was very frustrating. I would also like to mention that the bathroom wasn't as clean as I expected. There were long black hairs in the bathtub that were definitely not mine!

Ottimo soggiorno, nulla d'eccepire per confort, pulizia e arredi. Molto elegante e ben rifinito, un solo modesto consiglio per la camera da letto matrimoniale magari una sedia ed piccolo scrittoio.

Zentrale Lage in der historischen Altstadt. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe (viele Treppen). Zimmer gut ausgestattet.

Badezimmer separat, aber zur alleinigen Nutzung. Das andere Zimmer hat ein Badezimmer. Hinweis für AutofahrerInnen: Unser Navi hat es nicht geschafft, uns zur Unterkunft zu leiten. Wir saßen quasi fest, weil entgegengesetzte Einbahnstraßen uns den Weg versperrten. Nach Anruf bei der Vermieterin wurden wir „abgeholt“, sie fuhr uns voraus. Die Straßen sind nichts für schwache Nerven und wir sind einiges gewohnt.😎

Neat, well appointed apartment close to local attractions and restaurants.

I booked as a whole apartment however the owners describe each bedroom as an apartment and so this is actually a share house. We had a man arrive at 10pm, walk through the apartment and into his room so a bit of a surprise. There are three bedrooms and the living space is very small so would be uncomfortable if fully booked. The apartment is on 3 levels with the staircases narrow and steep. Be prepared to drag your luggage up the stairs. In the apartment description there is parking available on site and you need to reserve. Please note, there is only street parking which you need to source yourself there is no reserve parking.
