The Cardamom Thekkady

I had spent quite some time researching hotels in Thekkady, hoping to find a comfortable and pleasant place to stay during our vacation. Unfortunately, the experience here turned out to be quite disappointing and did not live up to my expectations. The hotel is located a little away from the main town, the market area, and the Periyar National Park entrance. While the location itself may work for some travellers, it is not the most convenient if you want to stay close to the main activities and attractions. Parking was another concern. The hotel has very limited parking space, which does not seem adequate for the number of rooms. Since many visitors explore Thekkady using their own vehicles, parking should be better managed. We eventually had to park our car outside the hotel premises. What disappointed me the most, however, was the lack of hospitality and professionalism. Upon arrival, we had to carry our own luggage, which was not the kind of welcome I expected at this price point. My room was on the ground floor, while the reception was on the first floor, making communication a little inconvenient. I called both the reception and the restaurant multiple times to request the food menu, but it was never provided. I also enquired about the Ayurvedic spa services but did not receive any information regarding the available options. These may seem like small things individually, but together they reflect a lack of attention to guest service. As a result, I decided not to try the hotel’s food either. On the positive side, the room was clean and reasonably spacious. However, despite having booked in advance for three people, the room was not properly prepared for all three guests, which was another letdown. Overall, my stay was disappointing. While the room itself was decent, the lack of hospitality, inadequate parking, and poor response to basic guest requests made the experience fall short of expectations. Considering the amount we paid, I expected a much better level of service and attention to detail. My recommendation: I would suggest exploring other accommodation options in Thekkady before booking this hotel. There are likely better choices available for the same budget, especially if hospitality and a hassle-free stay are important to you.

The stay was okayish but too expensive for the amenities provided

Enjoyable stay. Rooms are specious and clean. Breakfast is very good.

In every room wall was cracked and pain was coming out. We have tried to call reception but they don’t bother to reply on any issue. For each and every ask we need to request staff to by going to the counter.
