The Alameda, a neighborhood centered around the spacious Alameda de Hércules plaza, is very popular among students and creative types for its vibrant nightlife. Its tapas bars serve trendy dishes like ceviche and sushi. There are also venues with live jazz and open-mic nights, as well as nightclubs and gay bars open until the wee hours of the night. The Espacio Santa Clara, located in the nearby San Vicente neighborhood, hosts art exhibitions and flamenco performances in a former monastery.
