About this house rental
Guests can enjoy a lovingly restored thatched cottage on a 300-year-old farm in a beautiful, secluded location. The Elmholz vacation home welcomes its guests with a simple, unpretentious charm. Danish lattice windows, creaking wooden floorboards, and light colors define the Nordic interior style. The fireplace provides plenty of warmth in winter. In summer, when it gets really hot outside, the thatched roof keeps the house pleasantly cool. On the first floor, you’ll find a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a living room with a wood-burning stove, a dining and sofa area (complete with a view of our horses), as well as a kitchen (with a door leading to the patio featuring a beach chair and an unobstructed view of the field) and a bathroom with a shower and heated floors. Upstairs, a large living-bedroom area, open toward the staircase, offers plenty of space under the thatched roof. Fiber-optic internet provides fast connectivity throughout the house. There is a charging station for electric cars in the courtyard. In addition to the terrace, guests have access to a private garden with additional outdoor furniture and a beach chair. Here, you can enjoy the afternoon sun and even have a barbecue in the summer.
The lower bedroom is furnished with a 1.40-meter bed; in the upper bedroom, guests have access to a 1.80-meter bed as well as a sleeper sofa. There are televisions in the living room and in the upper bedroom. A crib can be provided. The house is also equipped for guests who wish to stay longer and, of course, features a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher.
The yard is surrounded by fields, and the forest is just a few minutes’ walk away. This is ideal for dog owners. The path leads over a small wooden bridge into the Elmholzer Woods and is part of the historic Ochsenweg trail. Trails stretching for several kilometers invite you to go for walks, jog, or ride a bike. The farm offers great opportunities to explore the area on foot or by bike. For example, Havetofter Lake, Idstedt Lake, and the Sieverstedt outdoor pool can all be reached by bike.
In ten to thirty minutes, guests at the Elmholz vacation home can reach the cities of Schleswig, Flensburg, Glücksburg, and Kappeln, as well as the Schlei, the beach in Brodersby, and the Baltic Sea beach in Damp, which has a dog-friendly section. In about forty minutes, you’ll be in Husum. Whether you visit the Haithabu Viking Museum or Gottorf Castle in Schleswig, the Phänomenta and the
Maritime Museum in Flensburg, or the Angeln Regional Museum in Unewatt—the cultural offerings are diverse.
Guests are welcome to bring their dogs. A fee of 5 euros per night applies for dogs. Upon prior arrangement, two small dogs may also be brought along. Bed linens and towels can be booked for an additional 15 euros per person.
