About this bed and breakfast
Historic Touch
Mary Hoyt grew up within these walls, and the alcove and closet in the suite are believed to be original to the home, preserving the character she would have known in her youth. Over the years her journals and the family’s diaries have helped us restore with care, reflecting the elegance and attention to detail the Hoyts prized. Engadine was built in 1885 by Captain John K. Hoyt and Mary Bensel Hoyt, combining Victorian ambition, modern systems of the era, and their own cultural ties to travel and hospitality.
Bed and Breakfast Experience
As a guest in the Mary Hoyt Suite, you enjoy the full inn experience. Each morning we serve a complimentary homemade breakfast in the dining room — a continuation of the generous hospitality that the Hoyt family established.
Scenic Setting and Experience
Awake to mountain views and the gentle sounds of Hominy Creek nearby. Spend quiet moments on the wraparound porches or wander Engadine’s grounds before heading out to hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains. With Asheville just minutes away, you get the best of both nature and culture.
