The Sunset Los Naranjos

The view & friendly staff, animals roaming around, bananas, mangos and other fruits gathered from trees for breakfast and juices. Two families with 3 teenagers had the best time.

Unreliable hosts. Since we were traveling w/ our 4 year old we were concerned w/ this location not being convenient since it was just along the highway, not in a town, the lodge didn't have a restaurant on site, there wasn't taxi service nearby. The hosts said there were many places within a few minutes walk to get food. That was untrue. We had to walk 20 minutes along a sketchy busy highway w/ no shoulder to find the nearest place doesn't do breakfast. There were no other safe options or tiendas within a 30 minute walk in either direction. At first the hosts were very nice & friendly offering to drive us to their beachside restaurant. "Go there, enjoy the beach for free, have dinner, I'll drop you off &pick you up" he said. Then later since we were out & about we decided to take a bus to their beachside place in the next town over - 15min. by bus instead of bothering him. Well the bus dropped us off too early leaving us with a 30 min. walk along the crazy highway to our destination. Not going to happen in the heat of the day w/ a 4 year old. So we messaged our host several times to see if he could pick us up. After 15 minutes he responded "sure absolutely I'm leaving now." He was only 10 minutes away. After waiting 30 minutes(he never showed up!) we flagged down another bus & they dropped us off where the other bus should have. After a 20 minute walk & searching we found it, enjoyed the sunset, dinner, and the locals looking at us like "what are YOU doing here?" Our host shows up at the beachside restaurant (we called and said that we ended up taking the bus could he drive us back to the lodge after dinner? and says of course. He shows up during dinner and says let me know when you are ready and dissappears. Afterwards we find him to take us back b'cuz our 4yo was falling asleep at the table. He continues his convo w/ the locals for another 10-15 min.
