Azure Retreat at Una

This small self-catering lodge is a nice base for exploring the St Ives area. The location is peaceful and offers a pretty, quiet retreat away from the busier parts of town. The kitchen was well equipped.

Unfortunately, several comfort and maintenance issues impacted our stay. The bed was very uncomfortable, and because we stayed during a heatwave, the lodge got incredibly hot. There was no fan provided, and we were unable to open the upstairs windows, making it impossible to get a through-draft. Additionally, the property needs some cosmetic attention: the bathroom is in need of redecorating, the bins were rusty, and the bathroom flooring was damaged. Prospective guests should also note that while the location is peaceful, it is a drive to get to all local amenities and attractions.

We loved our stay here. It was quiet and peaceful and provided us with everything we needed whilst staying near all the beautiful areas of Cornwall. The bed was comfortable and all the facilities were great. The location was great as we were able to easily drive to see St Ives, Carbis Bay, Hayle, and Lelant (all within 15 mins). If going to St Ives make sure you park and ride the bus (do not make the mistake we did by driving into town!!!) - we parked at Trenwith carpark and got the bus which was exceptionally easy and quick and far less stressful. We loved sitting on the patio area soaking up the sun. We didn’t end up using the Una facilities at all as we had so much to explore in the surrounding areas.

There are no lights at night at all (there’s one very faint light at the bushes but it’s fully pitch black getting to and from your car). There was a torch provided which was great but I think a light on the building would be very helpful.
