Shanagolden - centrally located 5 minutes from Pleasant Point and 20 minutes from Timaru with easy access to Ski fields at Mt Hutt (1 hour 37 mins), Mt Dobson (1 hour 27 mins) and Tekapo Round Hill (1 hour 45 mins). A tranquil native garden setting, perfect as a writers' or artists' retreat or for those seeking an escape from busy lives. Enjoy garden walks, evening birdsong or a game of Pétanque. Continental breakfast (with local produce) provided. Microwave and Air Fryer also available for meal preparation. Separate studio room with a garden courtyard and ensuite bathroom. Your hosts Patricia and Gerard have a comprehensive knowledge of Aotearoa / New Zealand's many attractions and have travelled and worked in 29 other countries and are happy to share a wine in the garden with guests. Patricia speaks French, Italian and Te Reo Maori as well as English.

Everything was great but best of all, Gerard and Patricia were extremely thoughtful, generous and engaging. Such a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place to stay!

Yes our overall stay was lovely. Great hosts. We were provided with breakfast too. Would recommend to anyone who wanted to have a quiet retreat but close to places like Geraldine and Timaru.

Patricia and Gerard are great hosts. Very comfortable room with all we needed to make our stay enjoyable including a range of home made foods for breakfast. The property is set in a beautiful garden created by Gerard over several years. The location is ideal for a break in the journey from Queenstown to Christchurch. I would happily recommend a stay at this location.
