Mdina Gate Retreat - A charming house of character

it really was a house of character which was exactly what we were looking for. An interesting layout and nice and cool downstairs due to the stone build of the property. A/c's worked well upstairs and beds were comfy. We especially liked having the little patio /balcony area upstairs. It was also appreciated that Karen left us a few welcome items and she was great at keeping in contact we definitely felt that she would be there to assist if we needed anything.

The hosts were very helpful and welcoming and had equipped the house with all the essentials (and more) you'd need for a stay, as well as a very thoughtful welcome tray of local food and drink, which was a lovely touch. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, we particularly loved the roof terrace. Its location is fantastic - a short walk to the main town (steeped in history and delicious restaurants); a short walk to Mdina (needs no explanation, you must go!) and it is a great base from which to explore the rest of the island. Any questions were quickly responded to, which was very much appreciated.

Nothing, it was amazing!

Amazing little house hidden in a small alley (small old streets across the road from Mdina gate). We arrived late during night, no problem with self check in. The house is on 3 levels. On base floor there is a living room (where you enter directly from outside), a spacious kitchen, a dining area and a toilet. On 1st floor are 2 bedrooms (single beds only, one bedroom has a small balcony overlooking the entrance) and a bathroom (bathtub, toilet) in between. On 2nd floor there is a bedroom (double bed), a bathroom (with washing machine, shower, toilet) and a lovely terrace (covered). The stairs are ok (stone solid stairs). Area is very cute, many restaurants, shops and nearby supermarkets. The hosts were amazing. We were greeted with a welcome basket (water, sweets, wine, juice). They were so kind to even arrange some cold beers for us upon request (given we arrived late night). There is nothing we missed, the house is fully equipped and very clean. Thank you for having us, will happily return.

There is nothing we did not like, all was perfect for us. Nothing to do with the hosts - sometimes there is sewage smell down (old city area) and 2 bedrooms are quite dark (though perfect for a good sleep).
