Gabriel and Sanjana were the best hosts we could have asked for during our three-day stay at The Den at Yala, offering the finest hospitality we experienced in Sri Lanka. From day one, it felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being welcomed as friends.
Nestled deep in the forest away from the main road, the property is serene, beautifully designed, and filled with thoughtful spaces. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and featured the largest mattress we’ve ever seen!
Gabriel and Sanjana went out of their way to prepare an incredible variety of local and continental dishes—hands-down the best food we had on our trip. They even generously helped us pay for tickets when we were short on cash.
On top of their unmatched warmth, Gabriel organized and guided our safari expeditions. His wildlife knowledge was exceptional, and his recommendations for hidden sunrise and sunset spots were a major highlight.
Plus, if you love animals, their four amazingly friendly dogs are always ready for pets and playtime. We couldn't recommend staying here more highly!

Amazing little place that located just few minutes away from the entrance gate of Yala, biggest national park in Sri Lanka. Everything was just perfect - well designed, safe for our kids to run around, quite and has everything that we need after spending few weeks in SL! The cleanness was on top level and the owner of the hotel was really helpful. Location is secluded and away from restaurants, but fret not, the hotel provided amazing foods, international and local style, for bfast and dinner (also lunch by request).
