Quiet Double room near Queen Elizabeth hospital and University

I was able to park on the pavement opposite the house in Gregory Avenue. I had a nice clean room with a comfortable double bed and ample wardrobe space.. There was a huge television, good Wi-Fi and a well-equipped kitchen downstairs to make a hot drink, a meal or breakfast. It was a cold night, but there were clear instructions near the front door enabling one to be able to switch on the heating which was adequate and efficient.

I had trouble accessing the property at first using the code but my phone call to the host was answered immediately and I was given more detailed instructions to press the correct keys. The room and facilities looked fine but as soon as I tried to use the (shared) bathroom and lock the door I realised that the brass lock handle would not turn. After several fruitless attempts, I called the host again but he said that he was not aware of the problem. I left to attend to my business in Birmingham but on my return later that evening the lock was still jammed. There was another guest in the adjacent room talking loudly on the phone till after 1 am. Unfortunately, the combination of the man's animated voice and a bathroom door that would not lock, meant that I did not feel particularly safe staying there. At least the room was warm, the bed was comfortable, and the linen was clean. In the morning, I used the downstairs toilet, left much earlier than planned and subsequently needed to shower and eat breakfast at my daughter's house, which was an inconvenience. It was a shame that I could not make full use of the facilities that I had paid for due to the host's inability to come and squirt some easing oil into the stiff brass lock.
