Milk House Mirissa, Entire Home, Authentic Village

Wow! Had a lovely, wholesome stay at the Milk house for a week. Situated between rice fields in the middle of the jungle, we lived like locals in a Sri Lankan farm house. As you’re in the midst of nature, expect peacocks, monkeys, tropical birds, and a few bugs around the house at night. As we stayed during monsoon season falling asleep and waking up to heavy rain was very peaceful and we had some of the best sleep here we've had in a long time. The location is very quiet at night with nothing but nature sounds. Suba, Navi and their family are honestly some of the kindest, sweetest souls we have come across. The are extremely welcoming, generous and attentive. We were provided fresh coconuts 🥥 and bananas 🍌 daily and also tried a different assortment of Sri Lankan fruits we hadn't tried before. Suba will answer your messages as soon as possible and was always trying her best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Their family always greeted us with smiles on their faces and we really experienced heartfelt, genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. Be sure to try Suba's cooking! She will make you an amazing Sri Lankan meal fresh with ingredients from her garden. Quite possibly the best meal I had in Sri Lanka, it was that good! They also offer breakfast as well with fresh milk straight from their cow. Bear in mind that this is a Sri Lankan farm house meaning you will be sharing the house with some bugs, however Suba & Navi are really open to constructive feedback on improvements to their house. They will be covering up some of the open slates in the house/ bathroom where the bugs were getting in, making the stay more comfortable for future guests. The main bedroom has these slates fully covered up already. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this magical stay at the Milk house. We found some wonderful hidden gems in the paddy fields—a beautiful local home surrounded by a garden and a jungle village. In the morning, we heard only birds and the sounds of nature. Walking peacocks around 🤗.The home is spotless and well-maintained, and the owners are incredibly sweet. We were welcomed with drinks and fresh fruits, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Everything here is wonderful, and we couldn’t be happier. I wish I could stay here forever. Lots of love! 💗
