Ak-Tash Yurt Camp

Can’t recommend enough. The place is absolutely stunning - right next to a river with amazing mountain backdrop and around just cows, horses and eagles. There is only one small cabin on the opposite side of the river, otherwise there is nothing. If the sky is clear, you will be treated to spectacular night sky view. Oh, and the views along the way as you approach are also worth it.

Perhaps I’d mention lack of signposts for the camp. It’s not difficult to find though. It’s on the left side of the river and you have basically 2 options how to get there. Either you stay on the “official” road on the right side and when you see the camp you just park the car there and cross the river on a small bridge on foot. If you have a proper SUV, you can cross the river earlier (there is an intersection and a bridge - someone already wrote the coordinates in one of the reviews) and continue along the river on left side on the “less official” road. Either way you will easily reach the camp. If you come after dark I’d probably stay on the right side - the road is better. One more thing - there are only Turkish style dry toilets. Not pleasant but a small price to pay for a 10/10 location. Oh and there is no internet connection after a certain point so keep that in mind and have offline maps.

Spend time with amazing people and a breathtaking location. The pictures really don't show how pretty this place it. We went off season and were the only tourists staying here and the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly - it was a joy getting to know them and seeing the work that they do.

facilities are limited - including a proper hole in the ground toilet, no electricity during the day, and no heating - but these are things that we expected and prepared for and did not prevent us from enjoying our stay

we liked it all location was a bit difficult to find at night so you might want to drive there during the day or save the below coordinates: 42°16'48.6 "N 78°06'40.1"E also bathroom is basic (3 stalls that are a whole on the ground) so keep that in mind if that’s important to you
