Hotel Stratos

This is based on 3 star expectations. I’m a world traveler, I’ve stayed in best hotels that have tripped over their reputations with an arrogance that makes you feel uncomfortable. Not so here. Back to basics. The key was on a plastic tag, the sort you use to secure your toolbox. But it worked, no need to swipe or place in the light switch. No need to return to the one man on duty. The room had the proportions of a mid west motel, except that the linen as fresh and clean. The bathroom had evidence of age and harsh water, but it was effective. The dining room was set up like a scene from an Agatha Christie thriller. The promise of breakfast at any time didn’t materialize, but that didn’t matter. There were multiple seaside options nearby.

The thought that these underpowered establishments might fall on their own sword and disappear. It is when a strange mix of lack of investment and or drive produces something special.
