Overall, we had a nice stay. The home is in a development of what look like vacation homes a mile or so outside of town. Although the development is gated, the guard wasn’t present several times and we had to open the UNLOCKED gate ourselves (not exactly secure).The home is spacious; most of the rooms are good sized. The primary bedroom on the second floor has a very nice, big balcony that looks out on the volcano; we spent a couple mornings there drinking coffee. A couple of downsides to the interior: the living room area is very small and the only furniture in it is a small, uncomfortable couch. Kitchen was fairly well stocked. Overall, the interior was a bit worn and not the cleanest. The yard was huge, with two sitting areas, a nice size pool and a very nice hot tub.Our major complaints about the home: The washer and dryer that are listed in the VRBO description were not available. When we messaged the host, he said the were locked in a room because they were not ready. Also, our host was very non-communicative. He did not provide check-in instructions prior to arrival; we actually had to message him a couple of times until he finally responded. He was extremely slow to respond to messages during our stay. And again provided no check-out instructions until after we’d messaged him a couple of times.

I just wished there were places to hang towels in the bathrooms and some reading light near the beds.

I will start with the pro’s. The check in process was easy, location was excellent if you have a car. It is in the edge of town which makes it quiet and in a gated community making it feel really safe and private. There is a great soda close by for meals if you don’t want to cook. The yard is huge and the pool was great. Overall the house was bigger than we expected, excellent view if the weather cooperates. Comfy furniture to relax after a long day. The fortuna areas has so much to do for any type of traveller.
We would of went 5 stars with the property but we got turned off by some ants that took over the kitchen. This was partially us not being familiar with how to take care of them and I am sure Danny will have taken care of it by the next renter.
I would agree with some of the previous reviews about no towel hooks, water gets on floor in the upstairs ensuite and the towels are so new they leave a little lint.
Overall this house is great just with some rustic elements of the area.

Random lizard poop, I assume, on bedspread and sculpted towels on bed. Bathrooms did not have hand towels.
Check in was easy. Never met the host.
We loved the fire pit for evenings. I loved watching all the hummingbirds and volcano view was the best!
