Great apartment for the price, lovely size, clean and cosy

Firstly, none of the windows in the apartment can be opened. The living area, bedroom and bathroom all have solid panes of glass, so there is no way to get any fresh air into the apartment at all. Because of this, there was a noticeable cooking smell lingering in the property, which seems to be a result of the lack of ventilation. Before check-in, the property sent a message through Booking.com asking me to submit my ID. Unfortunately I didn’t see the message until a few hours before arrival, but I submitted it immediately. As the check-in time got closer, I asked for an update on when the ID would be verified. I was told they couldn’t provide a timeframe, and when I asked whether it would be completed in time for my 10pm check-in they said they couldn’t say. This essentially meant I could have been left outside the apartment late at night without knowing whether I would be able to access the property I had already paid for. In the end, I had to contact the Booking.com call centre myself. They reached out to the property, and almost immediately afterwards the check-in instructions were sent. If I hadn’t contacted Booking.com directly, it’s very possible I could have been left without accommodation that night. We also experienced a problem with the water during our stay. This appeared to be caused by an external issue rather than the apartment itself, which is understandable. However, the communication when we tried to get updates was very poor. It seemed that everything was handled through a call centre rather than someone connected directly with the property. Responses were not particularly helpful, and it didn’t feel like we were speaking to anyone local or familiar with the situation, which made it harder to resolve or even understand what was happening. Overall, the apartment itself was great and would probably stay again, I would just say that it was hard work to resolve any issues that could arise.
