Our Hudson farmhouse – nestled on 10 acres on a hilltop overlooking the Catskill mountains – is a peaceful retreat, secluded in the countryside yet minutes away from Hudson’s popular restaurants, antique stores and art galleries. Enjoy the Hudson Valley’s hiking trails, orchards and ski slopes, or relax by the pool or in front of the fireplace. The house has been featured in Vogue Living AU and New York Magazine, with interior design and custom furniture pieces by renowned architect Léon Krier.
The space
DOWNSTAIRS
Bright open-plan layout flowing from a large comfortable living room with large wood-burning fireplace and large screen TV (equipped with all the streaming services), to a dining room with custom maple dining table designed by Léon Krier with seating for 8-12 and a sliding glass wall opening onto the blue stone patio lounge area outside, to an open plan kitchen with marble island, Italian gas range – plus all the equipment you could need to cook up a feast, large wood-burning fireplace and dining banquette area, to a separate play area. There is also a downstairs powder room (half bath) and separate office / reading room perfect for remote work.
Basement with large high efficiency washing machine and separate dryer.
UPSTAIRS
Master suite: 1 king bed and en suite bathroom with shower; includes separate sitting room with fireplace and a large screen TV (could also accommodate an air mattress on request); triple exposure with sunset views to the Catskills on one side and morning sun shining into the bedroom overlooking the hill on the other.
Guest bedroom: 2 twin beds; bathroom with deep bathtub and shower overlooking the Catskills shared with kids’ bedroom.
Kids’ bedroom: 1 toddler bed and 1 crib (could also accommodate an air mattress on request); bathroom shared with guest bedroom.
Guest wing suite: in a separate wing of the house up a second staircase; includes 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds in semi-private adjoining sleeping areas; en suite bathroom.
OUTSIDE
Pool: landscaped heated pool with lounge chairs and sun umbrellas.
Deck: gas grill and teak dining table with seating for 8-10 and extending to seat 14+.
Blue stone patio: teak lounge set with comfortable seating for 5; glass wall of dining room opens onto this area. Sunset views over the Catskills.
Fire pit: Adirondack chairs and wood benches for the whole family to huddle and roast marshmallows on summer nights.
Outdoors: large open front hill perfect for sledding (and plenty of sleds to borrow) and back woods with trails for hiking on the property.
** Note that the outdoor areas have been refurnished since the photos were taken. There is now a child-safe self-locking fence around the pool. **
