I have stayed in hostels all through Europe and America, my preferred stay over any hotel no matter how many stars. Hostels give one an opportunity to immerse themselves into local culture, interact with many different types of people and cultures. I have experienced one of the best I’ve ever stayed. The host Nori, is an incredible person, his goal is to provide the best experience and hospitality possible. He is available to help in any way possible. I have never felt so welcome anywhere, his interest in his guests is genuine and sincere.
This hostel is located blocks away from the joint military base of American and Japanese military making it ideal for visitors of both military and non military individuals. I am not a veteran but have enjoyed the mix. The number of incredible eating establishments is almost overwhelming! I’ve not experienced such a diversity of food in such a localized, convenient area, all within walking distance. A national park is roughly 25 minutes away, seven spectacular waterfalls situated within a gorge. The surrounding area is a mix of forest and agriculture, the ocean a short distance away, 20 minutes or so.
The host also offers outdoor activities as a separate service. Kayaking, camping, mountain hikes, fishing! The services available are ideal for the outdoorsmen! Cycling is quite popular and local drivers respect riders. I cycle and have been highly impressed.
The hostel is quiet, despite being within city limits.
This place is ideal for the nature lover and the foodie!
So impressed I don’t want to leave!
I highly recommend Misawa as a destination, a hidden gem all will truly love!
