Enjoy an extraordinary sleeping experience and relax in the new camping pods, on the outskirts of the former filming location for Edgar Reitz’s “Die andere Heimat” (“The Other Home”), in the small Hunsrück village of Gehlweiler.

Surrounded by the Soonwald Forest and the Simmerbach Valley, this lodging in the heart of the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park exudes a truly relaxing atmosphere. Vast areas of deciduous forest and breathtaking views of the surrounding Hunsrück landscape are sure to delight nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet. It’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge.

The camping pods are ideal for anyone traveling light and offer an affordable and attractive place to stay for hikers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and anyone looking for a short getaway in the countryside. Here, you can recharge your batteries. The camping pods are situated in an idyllic location on the outskirts of the village of Gehlweiler and are just a few minutes’ walk from the village center.
At the Gehlweiler community center, there are two vending machines stocked with regional delicacies. From meat and sausage products to alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, right down to topographic cycling and hiking maps of the Hunsrück-Middle Rhine region—which are perfect for planning your next day trip—every need is met. Everything can be easily purchased by card or cash.

Set amid nearly untouched nature, a stay in the 4.8-meter-long and 2.4-meter-wide camping pods is an extraordinary experience. Each of the two camping pods can accommodate up to three people. In the rear section of the pod, there are two single beds (each 80 x 200), which offer excellent sleeping comfort after an eventful day. The living area at the front of the camping pod offers plenty of space with a small seating area consisting of a table, two stools, and a bench that can be converted into a third sleeping spot. The pods, built in a rustic arched style, are equipped with lighting, electrical outlets, and infrared heating. In addition, there is a bench outside where you can enjoy the magnificent view.

Both shower facilities and separate restrooms are located in the immediate vicinity of the two camping pods (Towels are available upon request).
You can also park your car, motorcycle, or bicycle right nearby.

The price includes made-up beds, use of the restroom facilities, and final cleaning.
The camping pods can be booked with or without breakfast. To round out your vacation experience, you can easily add the breakfast package when booking your stay.




On-site costs: Included: Parking, bed linens; Not included: Towels, charcoal, grill. If you’d like breakfast, you’re welcome to add it for €12.50 per person. Up to two dogs are welcome per pod. The cost per night is €5.00.



Check-in is from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., and check-out is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
