Arditos Hill Residence

Beautifully decorated and spacious flat in a vibrant area of Athens. We only stayed three nights but the flat is equipped for a long permanence too.

It’s a great independent unit with all modern amenities and then some. I mean the number of kitchen appliances alone made me feel like a domestic goddess :) Very spacious and clean. Spares of everything: towels, washcloths, pillows, blankets, loo roll, umbrellas. Also basic kitchen items like oil, salt and pepper, coffee pods, teabags. Mariana has thought of everything! There are two air conditioners and fans on the property though we didn’t quite need them. It’s a half basement sort of flat so already quite cool. Location is great. Away from the hustle and noise of the central areas but close enough to be in the thick of it within ten minutes. Good leg workout too.

The hard mattresses are probably an acquired taste. I tend to see them in warmer climates so probably a cultural thing? Both bedrooms have double beds. Might be useful to have a twin bed option in one room to make it easier for families to separate the children in one room. There are quite a few loud dogs in the neighbourhood. Not the owner’s fault at all and even we managed to tune them out after a day. But the big one right next door did give us a good fright when it hauled itself on the other side of the gate as we got out of our taxi. It wouldn’t put me off from booking again though.

The room was exactly as in the pictures; in fact the pictures did not do it justice. Beds were comfortable which was welcomed after some previous accommodation. I didn't realise we had two separate bathrooms although I am sure it was in the ad but that was a lovely surprise. The host was great, she met us there to give us the keys and general rundown of the apartment, surrounding places (restaurants, supermarket, attractions etc), gave us her personal phone number in case we needed anything at all. She was wonderful. I was pleased to see some cooking facilities, and a washing machine; that made our stay a lot easier. There was even body wash and other shower amenities provided which was nice as I had run out and was planning to buy some.

Nothing to fault

We are from Athens originally but never stayed in Mets before and it is such a good location! Literally 7 minutes from 2 squares with excellent bakeries and an organic butcher and a supermarket, 10 minute walk to the tram and buses, 12 minute walk to 2 playgrounds, 15 minute walk to the botanical gardens where I went running every morning and 20 minute walk to Syntagma. The apartment iself is in a basement apartment with a separate entry to the building - you go down 3 steps to get to it. Overall only 6 steps which is nothing! Despite being in a basement, it is pretty light and you get a small private courtyard. I loved having a separate entry. Now we stayed over Xmas with an 8 year old so I asked the owner if she could put up a few xmassy things and she did not disappoint - the decor was perfect with a tiny little xmas tree too. The owner is so kind and helpful and the apartment is done up perfectly. The showers are so nice and hot and the pressure is perfect (unlike most greek apartments you do not need to heat up the water before using it). There is a small microwave and a small oven and hob. Enough to cook simple things in and pots and pans and cutlery. Overall we had a really lovely time and we would stay there again for sure.
