About this house rental
Perched in the mountains just above Main Street Julian, you will find your new favorite vacation destination…Polaris Ridge!
Our fully renovated home has four bedrooms, and three bathrooms and sleeps up to twelve people. There are three rooms with king beds, one room with two queens, and a queen-sized sleeper sofa in living room 2.
From amazing sunsets on the front porch to the North Star above the jacuzzi at night, Polaris Ridge is the perfect place to gather with your family and friends.
The space
The property is on a private dirt road overlooking Main Street in Julian. To access the house, you can park at the top of the driveway and walk down or drive down it. Note: The driveway has a significant incline. It is recommended to use AWD /4WD vehicles when using the driveway.
The main floor, located on the second level, has vaulted ceilings and is complete with a large sectional couch in the living room, dining room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The dining table has seating for eight guests, and there is room at the kitchen island.
The newly renovated kitchen has modern amenities, including a dishwasher, microwave, induction stove, electric oven, coffee pot, toaster, blender, and mixer. There is also a full complement of dishes, utensils, pots, and pans to cook and serve your meals. We provide basic spices and starter tea and coffee—plus a few extras! Acrylic drinking glasses have been provided for use by the pool and jacuzzi.
A roomy primary suite on the third floor is complete with a king-size bed.
The lower level has one more private bedroom with two queen-size beds, a bathroom, a den with a desk for working and a queen-size pullout couch, as well as a sunroom with games.
It's super private and quiet.
Guest access
Polaris Ridge house is a single family, 3-story home and is only occupied
by you and your registered guests. Reservations for up to 12 guests.
We have contactless check-in using a coded keypad.
The areas of 'owner access only' are the garage, one closet on the first floor, one closet on the third floor and the pump house that can be seen coming down the driveway.

The hosts were very helpful and attentive. The pool and spa were excellent and beautiful. The house was well-stocked (except lacked a whisk) and very clean and well kept up -- better than any rental property we've been in. The temperature was a challenge to regulate in all the rooms. The primary suite was very cold, but the bedrooms on the first floor were hot (and only one had a ceiling fan). It would have been helpful to have a blanket in addition to a duvet. The house was a little cramped around the dining room table with comfortable but large chairs that made passing by a bit of a struggle. We loved the view and the star gazing, but were surprised and disappointed by how noisy the highway was. The price seemed a bit high. But all eight of us had a good time, and enjoyed being there to see the small-town 4th of July parade! And of course Mom's Pies were delicious!

This property was great for our family’s needs. As a few others have mentioned, the lot is stepped/hilly, so we chose to park at the top and brought a cart to help move our belongings up and down. We all have mobility issues, and while we managed fine, it’s definitely something to consider if you’re traveling with older family members or anyone with limited mobility.The pool and view were fantastic and were highlights of our stay. The location was also very convenient, close to town while still feeling private and relaxing. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to others.

The house itself looked newly refurbished and was very nice. We especially enjoyed the kitchen with its new applicances, including an induction stove, dishwasher, and a spacious refrigerator. It was well stocked with cookware, utensils, glassware, and dishes. The view from the house was lovely, especially during sunset or after dark when the stars were highly visible. The tap water inside was tinged with yellow so we only drank the water dispensed from the refrigerator. Accessing the house was a big challenge however, especially for seniors and those with mobility problems. We had both in our group. The driveway to the house was long and very steep, requiring a 4-wheel drive, and we found it to be scary and treacherous (there is a sign at the top of the driveway that says “Very steep grade; user assumes all risk”). Once we got our car to the bottom of the driveway, it was extremely difficult turning it around because space was tight and the pavement was not level (at one point only 3 wheels touched the ground), plus there was fear of going down the nearby slope. There were also a couple of metal rings sticking out vertically in the middle of the driveway, so we had to make sure we didn’t run over those. Suggestions for the house: Add towel racks in the bathrooms; install a fan in the downstairs bathroom; include a dish rack in the kitchen; the dining table was nice because it sat 6 of us easily but it was too large for the space so it was a struggle to get in and out

The house was clean and spacious. We had a wonderful time! Everyone said it, but I will reiterate, the driveway is super steep. We mostly didn’t bother hassling with it but my mom had trouble walking up the steep hill. Julian is such a cute town! I highly recommend staying here and enjoying everything the town has to offer!
