We were a mixed group of nine, five older teens and one child, and Villa Ayasuki quickly became our home away from home for a little over a week. It was the perfect base for our day trips to Kyoto, Nara, and Himeji, with Ebisuchō Station only a 5-minute walk away. From there, it was easy to reach connecting stations or head straight into Dotonbori, which the teens loved strolling back from (just a 20-minute walk). The apartment offered plenty of space for everyone while still keeping us all connected. The girls loved having the entire ground floor to themselves and getting the full futon experience, while the boys enjoyed their own roomy setup on the fourth floor. The youngest was thrilled to discover a Nintendo Switch waiting for him in the lounge/dining room! With three toilets and two bathrooms, privacy and comfort were never an issue. The washing machine/dryer combo was also a lifesaver, though we found that washing and then hanging clothes overnight worked best due to the low wattage extending dry times. The hot water dispenser, microwave, and grill were all super handy for quick meals and snacks. The LiFE supermarket around the corner was a fantastic resource - huge, well-stocked, and perfect for grabbing everything we needed. We only discovered on the second-last day that the upstairs section also had crockery, clothes, and pharmacy items! The beds were another highlight. With electric bed warmers and dreamy comforters, snuggling in after a long day of exploring was absolute heaven. A couple of things to keep in mind, not negatives, just helpful to know: • The apartment is spread over four floors with no elevator, so it may not suit those with mobility issues or bad knees. • This was formerly a family home. It’s not flashy or ultra-modern, but it’s authentic, comfortable, and incredibly homely. If you prefer pristine, hotel-like accommodation, this may not be your style.
