Welcome to the Latimer Upper! This freshly renovated cottage still holds the charm + character of its historic past while offering all of the modern style + comforts desired in a 5 star stay. Located along a residential street you are mere steps to both the soundside (spectacular sunsets) and the ocean when sun and sand are calling. Enjoy 2 on-site parking spaces. Location cant be beat! Flipflops are all that’s needed to access the local hotspots. Walk to iconic Trolly Stop, Tower 7, shops… This beautiful property features a king bed, queen bed, and twin bed, ensuring a terrific night's sleep for all guests.
Fully renovated in 2024, expect a fresh, light filled space with brand new furnishings and interior touches along with an intentionally preserved, beach cottage vibe. This top floor, 3 bedroom cottage still boasts her wide plank shiplap ceilings, original hardwood floors and spacious, covered front porch…while also offering completely renovated and modernized living areas. The kitchen and bath are fully updated for everyone’s comfort and convenience. Not to be missed is the newly installed, whole house Kinetico water filtration system! No beach water here. We offer healthy, filtered dinking and bathing water along with non-toxic cleaning practices and organic, custom scented reed diffusers (crafted by us!) for healthy, all-natural indoor environments for all of our guests.
What we love most about The Latimer is the premiere location with peek-a- boo views of Banks Channel Sound and an easy 2 minute walk to the Ocean. Don’t miss a single sunset from the covered front porch. Plan to relax and enjoy the breeze on the swing after a sun-filled beach day in the sand with your beverage of choice….sip your morning coffee, basking in the early sunshine on the private side porch.
When it’s time to head out and explore the island you are in the premiere spot! Walk to all of the local favorites. Trolly Stop hotdogs are not to be missed along with a margarita and fish taco from Tower7. Circles ice cream makes a summer night sweeter. Local surf shops, boutiques, nightlife and the island’s long standing, Robert’s Grocery store are within an easy walk from the cottage. If you desire to rent bikes, they can be delivered to your door ready to pedal your way along our 3 mile island from inlet to inlet.

This was the best beach stay we have booked. The cottage is so adorable. It was perfect for a girls’ weekend with restaurants, beach and Banks channel steps away. It is surprisingly roomy inside with perfect porches outside for enjoying the water view and breeze. There was an issue that maintenance stopped by to check on and immediately handled. Parking is ample for the number of people and there are lots of extra spots nearby on Waynick if needed. We will be back as soon as we can.

The cottage was perfect for our long weekend getaway. The attention to details in the home were very thought out. It was little things like mirrors everywhere, homes for all of the remotes, ceiling fan fixtures in all of the rooms and thoughtful placement of decor. The location was great for walking to restaurants and shops. Beach access was very convenient and there was visibility to beautiful sunsets over the waterway from the kitchen and living area. The only thing missing is a half bathroom. While the single bathroom between the two bedrooms was roomy, and extra toilet room would make the cottage near perfect. When you are paying to stay at the beach, you don't want to have to go to a public restroom if you can't wait But we knew this upfront and was not a deal breaker.

Everything was great. Just a little surprised that the property faced the parking area of a multi-storied condo/apartment unit. They were also doing construction on the unit next door. The only other issue we had was the last night we were there, some water main must have busted or some other utility problem and the county was making so much noise and the light were blaring that we could not sleep and ended up getting up and leaving around 4:30/5:00 in the morning. We also did not know there was a unit below us but I do not think anyone was staying there while we were there. The place was very clean and well appointed. It suited us well.
