Grand Hanoi Hotel

I have travelled to Vietnam ten times, staying in dozens of hotels, all in this price bracket. This is without doubt the worst and most disgusting hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. I don’t do reviews, so for me to write this, is saying something. Staff: upon arrival they didn’t even look up or acknowledge my arrival. No smile, no hellos, just grunts. The entire time all I saw them do was look at their phones. I suggest they spend more time cleaning and less time on the phone. Room: the room was a good size with all the usual amenities such as a bathroom fridge and kettle. The shower head was falling apart, with the two halves separating, meaning half the water came out of the jets and half out of the solution the metal seam. There was no hot water. Cleanliness: now I understand when I’m paying *** for a room, the standard is not super high, however that should not extend to hygiene and cleanliness. Hair: the bed, floor and bathroom were full of someone else’s hair. I don’t mean the odd star hair, I mean so much hair the room couldn’t have been vacuumed prior to me arriving. Bugs: I am not sure what they were, but tiny bugs were crawling on the bed sheet. I slept on top of the bed quilt fully clothe. Rubbish: old lolly wrappers and other bits of rubbish. The elevator/lift: filthy and again had rubbish on the floor. This hotel was bad not once , but twice as I had left my bicycle suitcase here after night one a returned after my 9 day cycling trip. I can confirm that on the second visit it was just as disgusting and the staff just as rude. It was so bad I checkout after packing up my bike and booked some where else. Do you think the staff even asked why after an hour I was leaving ?? No of course not, too busy on their phones. As I said earlier, I never leave reviews, so please make of it what you will. There are so many good budget hotels in Vietnam, this is not one of them .
