Former small rural village, Aubervilliers is part of the metropolis of Greater Paris and touches Paris. Formerly known as Notre-Dame-des-Vertus, the town was from the middle of the 14th century to the end of the 18th century an important place of pilgrimage because of a miracle that appeared in one of the churches.
