Located just a few kilometers from the idyllic sandy beaches of Puglia’s southwestern coast, Masseria delle Gnizze (managed by SalentoSeaLovers) is an excellent example of how to bring a classic Salento masseria into the 21st century. A loving restoration has highlighted the property’s impressive original architectural features, embraced its grand scale, and transformed the whole into an elegant, welcoming, and extremely comfortable home.
Inside: the accommodations at Masseria delle Gnizze are all on a single level, with three of the six bedrooms accessed from the grounds.
From a large walled courtyard, the main entrance opens into a welcoming reception hall with a desk and a double-sided fireplace, beyond which most of the living spaces are laid out.
An opening on the left leads into a magnificent open-concept space with high, vaulted ceilings made of local tuff stone, white-painted walls, and creamy-colored tile floors. First is the living area, elegantly furnished with white sofas facing the double-sided fireplace clad in Corten steel and looking out through a series of French doors onto the large walled courtyard that runs the entire length of the farmhouse’s facade. A storage island partially separates this area from the kitchen-diner, which features a contemporary table and a fabulous professional-style stainless-steel kitchen nestled within a spacious alcove created by the vault’s columns.

Back in the reception room at the entrance, a door leads to the first bedroom:

The first, flanked by an emerald-green lawn dotted with colorful flowers, is just off the kitchen. Set up for dining, this is one of two magical spaces where you can enjoy meals with your group.
The second is a spacious, perfectly paved terrace dotted with trees and flowers and furnished with a scattering of high-quality outdoor furniture, allowing guests to sit and chat, read, or take a nap.
