Shiki Homes MEIGETSU 明月

We had a wonderful stay at this Kyoto home and would absolutely recommend it. The home was spotlessly clean upon arrival and clearly very well cared for. All of the amenities were thoughtfully provided, making it easy to settle in right away and feel comfortable throughout our stay. One of the biggest highlights was how quiet and peaceful the neighborhood was. Despite being so calm, the location is incredibly convenient—public transportation is just a short walk away, which made exploring Kyoto effortless. The home was also very easy to find, with clear directions that took any stress out of arrival. We were there for Christmas and it was freezing outside. But the heaters in the home worked quickly and efficiently, and we were cozy in no time. Another charming aspect is that the home is tucked away off the main road. While it may feel slightly hidden at first, this actually added to the experience by making the stay feel more private and quiet (away from the busy street), like a little retreat in the city. Overall, this was a comfortable, well-located, and peaceful place to stay in Kyoto. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, convenient, and relaxing home base while visiting the city.

• Authentic Japanese-style machiya house (exactly as in photos), interesting experience. • Fully renovated and feels like brand-new. • All appliances in perfect order. • Zero noise from the neighbors. • Swift and efficient communication with the owner. • Clear arrival/entry instructions and house manual. • Close to 2 bus stations and a 7-11. Still, a bit far from major attractions. • Wasn’t an issue for us, just bear in mind there are VERY steep stairs to the 2nd floor. • The bedroom on the 2nd floor has a lot of space, but the 1st floor was fitting our family of 4 just barely (for any activities other than sleeping. Again, it was ok, just keep that in mind.

• There is a fair amount of traffic noise coming from a nearby busy road (24/7). • We had a cockroaches issue, but the owners said they will take care of it only once we check out. • It seems there are some bugs living in the tatami area. We were bitten almost every night. The owners said they will investigate. • There is a slightly unpleasant odor on the 1st floor. • All of the above issues are understandable, given the fact that this is a ground-level old house. Just something to keep in mind. • Not a lot of cafes/restaurants within a short walking distance.

繁華街を抜け、ひっそりとした石畳の小道が宿の入り口でした。スーツケースはガタガタなりますが、まるでジブリの映画のワンシーンのようなワクワクがありました! 家の中は、京都の風情を残したまま、設備は綺麗に整えられていて清潔で居心地が良かったです 押入れ横の狭い階段や、床の間など所々に古い日本の趣を感じられました。 キッチン周りは特に充実していました。冷蔵庫も大きく、飲み物もたくさん入れられるし、美味しいお店でテイクアウトしたスイーツやパンも保管しておき、夜のティータイムや朝食でリベイクして美味しくいただけました！ 京都駅にも四条方面のショッピングエリアにも清水寺方面にも徒歩で行ける距離にあり、大通りだけでなく路地裏など京都の街並みを散策できて京都を満喫できました

コンパクトだけど、そこがまた京都や日本を味わうポイントでした 自分の家のようにくつろげました
