Fabulous safe apartment. Very good communication.

The room ha dno aircon so was a bit stuffy. The main room only had a double bed and it was very form. Would have preferred at least a queen. With a softer mattress.. there was a broken chair in the room ans the draws were very hard to close

A lovely apartment with a beautiful view in an excellent location

I loved the amazing view of Auckland city from the living room. At night it’s lovely to see the bridge and Sky Tower all lit up. Birkenhead is a very fancy part of Auckland, so it was lovely to explore. We loved to walk and drive by the beautiful shops and houses. The apartment is so close to the shops to browse or buy groceries. The location just made everything so easy. I loved that it was a self contained unit with a washer and dryer (they even had washing powder available). The apartment itself was clean, and easy to make a home away from home.

The shower head wouldn’t stay put which made it a little difficult to shower but it wasn’t a big deal really. We all got a shower each day :)

Communication was excellent, getting in was easy. The property was uncomfortable and not clean.

The location is good for what we needed to visit family.

The beds were not very comfortable, there was plastic mattress protector on one bed in particular that was terrible. I totally think mattress protecters should be used, but not cheap horrible ones that keep you up all night when you move slightly. There was a room perfume bottle with no perfume in it, stuck to the bedside table? The bedside lamp did not work. The sofa was very stained and there was food scraps on the kitchen floor.

Clean, bright apartment which is well located. Good communication with the property manager which was another bonus.

The property manager was brilliant with very good communication and she provided her cell phone number in case there were any problems or queries. The apartment was clean and comfortable, bright and cheerful. All the appliances were Bosch, good quality, and fairly easy to use. The beds are on the hard side, so if you like a firm bed, you will like that. We had four adults which was probably a little bit of a squeeze, but if you were a family of four (2 adults, 2 children), that would be ideal. There’s a nice balcony and a great view of Skytower which we were able to enjoy when it was New Year and we could see the fireworks. The apartment is located incredibly conveniently to shops restaurants including Movenpick, Woolworths, and lots of restaurants, eateries and a variety of shops. The bus service is also close by and well served for different locations.

The mattresses are a little firm for my liking, but the beds are well-made and there were a couple of extra blankets should you need them. There’s one sofa and it would’ve been nice to have had another easy chair in the room if you have four people wanting to sit down. There were other chairs, but they were not that comfortable to sit on for a long time to watch television. The TV is small and is not a smart TV, but it does have a DVD player— quite useful if you have some DVDs with you. Other than that, it was a very good apartment and I would recommend it.

An excellent comfortable and clean apartment

Good location surrounded by all types of shops, Cafes, Restaurants and facilities. easy transport. The unit was comfortable and clean. Two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms , living dining area and a good kitchen with all equipment. Also had a nice balcony. The washing machine and dryer were excellent.

The double bed was small and not comfortable for 2 adults, a queen bed would have been better. There was an iron but no ironing board.

Modern 2bed & 2 bath with Washer & Dryer with a view is worth it!

New or newly renovated building. Unit is top floor with no neighbours, so very quiet. Easy underground parking spot right by the elevator. So easy to get luggage in/out. Stunning views from the dining area and the small bedroom. New Washer AND separate DRYER is a huge benefit. we also made use of the dishwasher.

Newness means there is still drywall dust. Also the owner seems new to renting because there are some instructions needed to work the stove , etc , but as soon as we contacted him he verbally gave us the info. There is no Coffee/Tea/milk etc provided - which it likely says in the ad - but now we’ve stayed at 4 other accommodations on NZ’s north island, and they all provided, so it would be nice to especially since Auckland is often a traveller’s first stop My wife who is asthmatic was unable to sleep in the small bedroom, because the comforter had too much drywall dust. (She slept on the couch with our own sleeping sheet she always brings ). And we had already unpacked and given the master to our adult son). Hopefully after this review, the owner will have that bedding washed and another “once over” including the pendant lights in the kitchen. He’ll likely reply that if we had asked, he would have had it done — but we didn’t want any bother while we were there for 3 nights.

Nice place.very clean and comfortable

I loved having the washer dryer. Cooking facility was nice. The fridge was nice and big. It was nice to be situated in Birkenhead. They’re all kinds of things and shops around town. It was pretty close to the central Auckland city and was easy to drive into. The instructions that I got from the owner were really good in terms of how to get into the property how to access the keys how to open the garage and what not.

I wish that units would have bigger trash cans. Those puny little trash cans that are the same ones that they have in most hotels are just not big enough. It would’ve been nice to have had instructions for the washer. At first, we weren’t sure where to put the soap. So, we looked up online for that particular model. We didn’t really understand the settings for the dryer either. It also took a couple minutes to figure out how to turn the stove on. Also, the TV controls and the satellite box didn’t really work. If it was working, we didn’t understand it.

The views were beautiful. The apparent was spacious. Great to have Carpark onsite. Washing machine and dryer were helpful as we were staying for 10 nights.

I think the cleaners have let you down. So many walls had dirty marks on them. The bedding was stained and mismatched. We asked for extra bedding but were didn’t get any more pillow cases. The showers were badly stained. Kitchen could have been much better set up. There weren’t enough dishes and again it looked like a mismatch of random items.

Excellent base for a few nights exploring Auckland.

Great location if you love to eat. It’s a little bit out of the way of the city but easy enough to get onto the highway and there are a mind blowing amount of food options right around the corner in walking distance. The apartment self check in process was easy and it’s well equipped for a comfortable family stay. I really appreciated the washing machine and dryer.

It was difficult to get a comfortable sleeping temperature. A pedestal fan would be a great addition.

Loved the location and the view, including having a balcony to enjoy it from. It was great to have a self-contained, private residence for our extended stay (including a kitchen and laundry). It was within 30 minutes drive of everything we wanted to visit during our time in Auckland. Loved Birkenhead itself: it’s a suburb with a great feel and we could actually imagine ourselves living there if we ever moved to NZ one day.

A small thing, but having a colander in the pot drawer for draining noodles would be handy. Have at least one bedroom set up with a double bed for the adults. Having the TV already tuned into free-to-air TV (not just streaming) also would have been good. The shower was nice and warm, with the jet stream great on our muscles, but over time the bracket on the shower head became looser and kept swinging upwards, so by the end of our stay we had to hand-hold it to stop the water flying up towards the ceiling. Got the feeling that it might have been a while since someone last stayed in it, as we experienced some dust allergies from sleeping there and the batteries in the TV remote were dead. The remote for the garage was also a bit temperamental when entering from outside (seemed you had to be a certain distance from the gate for it to work!).

The property was beautiful, nice view convenient location because the mall & town strip was a 2 minute walk away also close to the motorway. The property was nice and comfortable, with a hint of a homey vibe to it. Check in & out was super easy, host had great communication too. We genuinely enjoyed our stay :)

The only con for me which honestly isn’t even a big one and doesn’t overall effect our experience but would be nice in the future is to have a smart tv or dvd player or something of that sort because the tv only played the normal tv channels. Again not a big thing or didn’t effect our overall stay but would’ve been nice esp because the weather wasn’t too nice when we stayed so we did spent quite a bit of time indoors.

For $300 a night would have expected better quality. Linen not great quality. Duvet cover not even matching or wide enough to hang over edge of bed. Thin and small bath towels. No tea towel to dry dishes . No proper tea or coffee provided just some opened goods left in a cupboard. Heater to plug in could only be plugged in with a cord going across bathroom door from lounge which blocks access . No mirror in bedrooms only in bathroom which if someone is using no one else has access to when all trying to get ready . Stains on Carpet and big black scuff mark on paint work. Couch looks cheap and not best of condition . Cheap k mart furniture. Found hairs on pillow in one bedroom and long black hair on lampshade in other bedroom. No wine glasses . Lights shining through blinds so room can’t be darkened and beds not very comfortable Very basic apartment for cost of stay . Usually book at fernz next door same price but much better quality and services provided.

Birkenhead BNB is modern, clean, well equipped, and excellent value for money - we couldn't be happier with our stay! It had everything we needed to be comfortable - heaters, showers with good water pressure, extra pillows. Cooking and doing laundry was a breeze - the kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, knives, plates, etc., and the host was so kind to provide detergent and tumble dryer sheets. It's also in a great location for exploring North Shore and going into the CBD, and utterly convenient - it's a walking distance to cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarket, indoor playground, and more.
