Veggie single room NEC

I wanted some cheap accommodation while attending an event at the NEC and this fit the bill nicely. The experience is like staying over at a friend's house - just respect the fact you're in someone else's home and tidy up after yourself. I stayed in the single room, which is small but has a comfy double bed. No noise problems - it is a quiet residential area and no one seemed to be using the other guest room. I felt safe all the time I was there. Jelena gives you full instructions about checking in and there was no problem about checking in early. Checkout is equally simple - Jelena prefers it if you put your used towels and bed linen in the washing machine when you go. Although technically breakfast isn't included, there is a selection of teas plus coffee and cereals (bring your own milk).

I had a bit of a hard time with the pushbutton lock on my door - always keep a note of the code with you even if you go to the bathroom, otherwise it will lock you out for 10min! Decor and facilities are a bit rough round the edges, but this is someone's home and you shouldn't expect a hotel/guest house experience for the low cost. Everything works that needs to work. There are little notes stuck everywhere reminding you what you should and should not do. Basically the rules are: no meat, no alcohol, no visitors, no shoes indoors and clean up after yourself, . Seems fair to me. Parking in the last bay by the hedge is a squeeze but doable.

Jelena is such a warm, friendly, and welcoming host. She made me feel right at home, and it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for her. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was a 10/10 experience!

Cheap. Like an old fashioned yha but with privacy and fewer people sharing the bathroom. Nice and warm.
