Green Lander Ubud

Beautiful location and charming facilities. Staff were terrific: friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

If you want nature in Ubud, you must locate away from downtown. This location was beautiful and about a 25 min walk or 5 min motorcycle ride from town. Worth it if you value the scenery. Not a con, but a trade-off to be aware of.

Greenlander is a beautiful place to stay and astetically impressive. It is made entirely of bamboo and as placed on edge of jungle/forest, it looks amazing. Staff as always in Bali are lovely and very friendly. Upon entering the front Reception, you are immediately impressed by the scale and presentation of the place. There are 5 villas and the walk through the vegetation is beautifully scuptured though you will need mosquito spray for sure always and constantly. Just to note that that the hotel is onlt accessible by moped though they run a shuffle service for you and luggage from the main road which is about 2km away.

Despite the beauty of the place, as a solo traveller, its quite isolating as I saw virtually no one in my time there other than staff so i personally felt it was devoid of atmosphere. I had afternoon tea as part of my package upin arrival which was a little disappointing as essentially just a single dessert of your choice with a drink and there was no else around me in the huge dining area which has appropriately 20 tables. I later had evening dinner and again, it was just ok. There was one other couple there but otherwise an empty dining room. I had wanted just a plain pasta as my tummy had been "off" but the kitchen could not accommodate so I picked a pasta with prawns and ate around the prawns. Whilst I found my villa to be spectacular, I stuggled with mosquitos by night. My net did not fully fit round the bed so the flies found ways through and I found myself getting up in the night to try to secure it spray it with deet to deter anything ! There was gaps in walls which all add to the eco style but i had expected it to be a little more concealed to help keep flies out. There was in the room about 5 mosquito plug in's to help so i had each one plugged in where ever I could. There was an extension cable on one side of the bed for a plug but nothing on the other side. There was just one plug point in the living area for the fridge but it also ran from an extension cable so you could use that. Of course, when you get up in the night to go to the toilet, you need the lights on so this was like a beacon to the flies both in the bathroom and the bedroom. I also struggled with the bathroom as it is completely open air but also has water pools and vegatation in the garden area of the bathroom and unfortunately i had spotted a medium sized lizard in my bathroom at dusk that made a reappearance in the night when i went to the toilet!

This bamboo villa was honestly one of the most iconic and dreamy places I have ever stayed in. It felt like a dream come true and was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We were initially a little worried about mosquitoes and the fact that we were staying so close to nature, but we were pleasantly surprised, we didn’t get bitten by a single mosquito during our entire stay. We are very comfortable with nature and all kinds of little creatures, so this was absolutely not an issue for us. The villa was spotless, beautifully maintained, and we felt incredibly well taken care of. The staff were exceptionally attentive and punctual. Whenever we ordered dinner, it arrived exactly on time, even though we had told them we didn’t mind if it came later. The breakfast was also always served right on time. Everything was handled with such care and professionalism, which made our stay even more special.

We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn’t change a thing.

The bamboo design and remote location is great if that is what you are wanting

The property was not represented correct on booking.com, it did not have amenities as marketed, for example it was listed as a 5 star resort with gymnasium which it wasnt.
