Peaceful apartment - 2BR/4P - Porte Saint-Denis

Great place. Property was as described & has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great. Near Metro & train station. We walked all over and enjoyed our stay. The one problem, and it is a big problem, is the check in process. This property is managed by a 3rd party. When they send you a check in link that goes to an error page-be prepared this very well may happen to you-and you arrive after business hours, you are probably screwed for the night. Hopefully you can reach Vrbo. I feel fortunate we got hold of someone who worked to get us a hotel room back by the train station for the night. This would have been a nightmare with kids. When we got hold of “check my guest” the next day the German call center resolution center dude was a total a-hole trying to blame me for their failed check in link. Vrbo is a great service but there should be up front warnings that you will be dealing w/ 3rd party management companies on the rental page. Better yet, consumers should be able to exclude them in their searches.

Hidden away behind 2 secure entranceways that had heavy duty magnetic locks and needed a code to get through. Ideal for what we needed; somewhere to sleep, wash and eat that was within walking distance of the main sightseeing areas of Paris. Metro stations also within 5-10minute walk to get around more quickly or to further locations. A little confusing getting our check-in / access information. We booked through Expedia and were subsequently sent information by Expedia, Belvilla, VRBO and Checkmyguest... in the end we had to ring Checkmyguest once we arrived to get the code for our key. Some minor things that needed fixing in the apartment (light fittings / bulbs and bathroom worktop), but nothing that made the stay any less pleasant.

The location is fantastic!

The apartment was in a great location, walkable, and close to grocery stores, restaurants, and bakeries. The apartment was damp when we arrived, with standing water in the bathroom, and oddly there was water in a container inside the drawers next to the bathroom. The communication with the manager (Expedia? VRBO? Belvilla? Checkmyguest?) was terrible. Check in time was in the afternoon, but I didn't receive check-in instructions until 10:30PM. I almost booked another hotel but instead paid money to store my luggage (along with my 3 family members) near the train station. I don't understand why the management didn't email the check-in instructions 24 hours in advance as they had indicated. I messaged every single phone number and email address that I was sent regarding the apartment-- I think it was roughly 3 different email addresses and 5 different phone numbers. What a mess.
