Polecam !

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in the 1-room side and did not have a 5-star stay. I know the owner is going to have heartburn over this HONEST review but I want to say I have nothing to gain by it one way or the other.
I prearranged a 2:30 PM early check-in because I knew I would have a weeks’ worth of perishable groceries that had to get into a refrigerator quickly. When I arrived, I was unable to gain entry with the security code. I kept trying different numbers on both doors until the locks detected misuse and stopped accepting key entries. I called then texted the owner explaining the situation and a requested a callback. I never got the callback but a text saying it should be fixed. Shortly before 4 PM, I was able to get in but my meats, dairy, produce and drinks where all sun warmed.
The inside seemed well decorated at first but the more than a dozen pillows had to be piled up on the floor to use the furniture. Less would have been better. We found dirty surfaces in the kitchen and bath which we cleaned with alcohol wipes. The base of the toilet was dirty and the windows and exhaust fan had countless spider webs. The showerhead was heavily scaled and nasty. The area carpet around the bed was well past warn with the pattern warn out in large spots. The carpet edges were curled up causing us to constantly trip throughout our stay. The small kitchen table was very tall and had mismatched chairs. When was sat to eat, our chairs where so low, our chests where even with the table surface. We stood while eating during some meals.
I opened the hot tub cover to find an unpleasant odor not common to any other one I’ve been in including my own. The bottom was dirty with sand and black debris. There was a heavy ring of filth above and below the waterline. The service monitor showed the last water change was 16 days past due. I texted the owner explaining what I found and didn’t want an infection. I quickly got a reply that it was serviced that same day but she would come the next day to wipe it down. Over the next 3 days, I waited for the cleaning but saw no difference then took pictures. In a large part, we stayed here for this amenity to relax after hiking Zion. We never felt it was clean enough to safely enjoy so we didn’t go in. The furniture and carpet in the outdoor sitting area the tub was in was also covered with a thick layer of dirt - I assume from the winds. We never sat there because of that and the direct sun it was in. There were trip hazards outside and odd items you might find on the side of the road everywhere. All in all, the outside appeared under maintained.
The first night I thought it best to quickly cook some expensive steaks that sat in the sun since they wouldn’t last. I found a rusty, filthy, and poorly operating propane grill with missing parts and no grill utensils. The heat shields that should be above the burners were missing so the burner holes were plugged with grease and not working. I spent over 30 minutes fixing, cleaning, and leveling the grill only to use it once.
After cleaning 2 outdoor chairs, we had to level them on the hill they were on. We quickly found that the 4-lane 55 MPH posted highway just 120 feet away was too loud to relax.
I hope this review is found honest, constructive and changes can be made. Until then, it is nowhere near a 5-star property despite the Email reminder from Angelea reminding me to rate it at that.
