    Sounkaku is a very big hotel geared up to deal with lots of big parties. The hotel is well located in Sounkyo Onsen. The highlight was the buffet dinner which was very good - with so many guests, the hotel could provide lots of choice and the food was freshly cooked. In addition, the unlimited all inclusive bar for soft drinks, alcohol and snacks was also very enjoyable. The outdoors Onsen was nice. The rooms were ok and reasonably spacious although the bathroom was almost entirely made of plastic and could do with modernising. The other main downside was that the hotel caters for hundreds of people and the buffet at times was over crowded.

    We stayed for 1 night and book the Traditional Japanese style room. It was GREAT although the wifi signal was quite poor at our room. The hotel provided a Yukata and Japanese Sandle to wear while you were in the hotel. We love it!!! they offer a free drink & snack since you checked in until midnight (i think). there were variety of alcohol & non-alcohol drink, gelato, soft serve ice cream, snack, etc. and it's all free! Free games & karaoke at the games room. Great & large public bath (onsen). We booked together with dinner and the food was such great!!!! Breakfast is super!!! Overall, we had a great experience and were really impressed especially the staff!!!! Thank you!!!

    Nice views around the resort. Lounge have a wide variety of drinks and food (nice pancake and gelato). Room is pretty big but facilities are quite old (especially shower). There is no AC. Hotel dinner buffet does not have a wide selection (nice crab legs, soup, beef and matcha cake).
