AT ONE - with Nature Glamping, Rekawa

This property was amazing, gave a feeling of staying in an urban jungle. Every morning u can hear peacock sound, and very peaceful place. Close to turtle beach however we couldn’t see any turtle when we went, it depends on ur luck and timing.

They had a small pool, and the large pool was chargeable.

Het was een prachtige Glampingtent zoals op de foto's. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Hebben er een heerlijke pizza gegeten en een andere dag vis en gamba's. Prima ontbijt met uitzicht op het meer. Er is een klein zwembad wat bij de tenten hoort en bij de buren moet je wat betalen om in het grotere zwembad de zwemmen. De douche heeft een super straal die je niet in Sri Lanka verwacht. Er js altijd iemand aanwezig op de veilige plek. Ook geschikt voor gezinnen met kinderen. Het bed sliep ook heerlijk en.wakker worden met veel vogelgeluiden is fantastisch.

The glamping tent was fairly basic but reasonably comfortable and had a fan, air conditioning and a clean bathroom. It is very dark inside though so not a place you would spend much time. The setting in a small garden was quiet. The manager Anoja was friendly and helpful and a good cook. Great view over tree tops to the lagoon from the second floor restaurant.

The advertisement for this property shows that it has a pool, which is not the case. The lovely swimming pool pictured belongs to the next door hotel and At One charges approx. 1,700 LKR per day for guests to use it. While the staff, mainly Anoja the manager, are nice, the owner of the hotel was there during our stay and we quickly understood that he is not a nice man. I witnessed him (he did not realise I was there - and he was speaking in English as he is Indian and does not speak Sinhala) verbally abusing the hotel manager, and I mean ranting, swearing and telling her she is worse than useless. It is clear that this was a common occurrence. When we spoke to locals at one of the other places we visited in the village it seems that this man has a bad reputation. We would not recommend this hotel for these two reasons. In our view, one would be much better off staying at Omkara Villas next door (the place with the pool) which has lovely staff, far nicer accommodation and a much nicer setting in a tranquil garden and obviously with the pool and very nice restaurant.
