About this cottage rental
Escape to a charming two-bedroom cottage nestled in the heart of jungle, but only minutes to town. Surrounded by towering trees and vibrant fruit trees, you'll experience nature at its finest. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance, where the sounds of toucans and wildlife create a serene escape. Perfect for small families or friends, this cozy retreat offers all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the jungle while creating unforgettable memories.
The home is nestled among large trees where you can often see toucans, monkeys, iguanas, and various other wildlife. In the rainy season, you will hear sounds of the river down below.
The property is located in a secure, gated community in the small town of Atenas. Only 30 min to the SJO airport, two hours to the popular La Fortuna and one hour to the beach.
Please note that there is warm water in the shower only.
There is no cell signal at the property, but strong fiber optic wifi is provided.
The guesthouse is on property with the hosts home. The guesthouse uses the main property gate and then has its own driveway. The Cottage cannot be seen from the main house and maintains privacy.
You will see bugs during your stay — it’s simply part of life in the jungle. While we thoroughly clean and do our best to keep them out of the casita, they are part of the ecosystem and life here in the jungle. Please be sure you’re comfortable with this before booking.
Power outages happen occasionally in Costa Rica, usually about once a month and lasting 10 minutes to a few hours. If one occurs during your stay, we’ll keep you updated and do our best to make sure you’re comfortable.

This was our first experience with Vrbo and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. Our host was very prompt with communication before, during, and after our visit. The property was lovely. The casita is located near the principal house, but hidden from direct view. It was comforting to know that our host was close by while we still enjoyed all of the privacy we could want, including a dedicated covered parking spot. The grounds were beautiful and the interior of the casita was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with basics like spices and oil, as well as pots/pans/utensils/etc., so we were able to prepare our own meals. Lots of nice decorative touches throughout. Our favorite area was the covered patio where we could enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Location was convenient to everything we needed and to places we wanted to visit. Wifi was great and, though we did not use it, there was also a TV with many viewing choices. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others who truly want the benefits of a home away from home.

Our stay in this casita was very comfortable, well appointed & clean. We would definitely return to this property, if we ever find ourselves in Atenas again. Our host was so very helpful & gracious with our timing.
