Just the perfect stay

Lovely location and old house, but the description was misleading.

I bought and prepared my own breakfast. The accommodation was an attic room above a café, and I was able to use their kitchen.

It was wrongly described as 'an apartment '. It was a loft or attic, accessible only via a step ladder in a house with 2 floors below which were part of a cafe. The toilet was 2 floors down, and was the only toilet, also used by the café customers. Negotiating the stepladder which had no bannister was difficult and impossible for me to carry a suitcase up. The owner carried it up when I arrived, and some friends helped me to get it down when I left. At night it was very uncomfortable to have to get down the stepladder and then down to the ground floor to use the toilet.

Great location and lovely views

The arrangement of the accommodation is as follows; Ground floor - toilet 1st floor - shower 2nd floor - double bed The thing that didn’t come across in the previous reviews is that the ‘steps’ to the bedroom was essentially a wide-tread ladder! Think loft hatch. We managed fine but worth bearing in mind that if you need to go to the loo in the night it’s quite an adventure! This is written for info for others as it didn’t affect our trip but can imagine if you were not expecting this or had a dodgy knee or hip then it might look quite different.

A lovely experience

The room is upstairs from a cute little cafe in the heart of the city. You climb a few flights of stairs and reach the top where a small cozy room awaits. The view is great. The host was super friendly and helpful.

The toilet is on the bottom floor, the bathroom on the second and the room on the top. Not very practical if you are staying more than 1 night.

Lovely quirky room

It was quirky but beautiful, comfortable and clean. From 5:30 you have the entire place to yourself. So it really is like having a little piece of St Paul de Vence. The front door handle was a bit stiff and I did worry I’d been locked in!! But a wiggle and it opened. Only warning I’d give is the ladder to the room means it’s not suitable for people with any mobility issues, and getting up for a wee in the night is a challenge of its own 😂 however, it didn’t detract from the stay.

Luogo incantevole al centro del paese in una struttura disposta su più livelli. La camera da letto posta all'ultimo livello (sottotetto) gode di una vista eccezionale ma risulta un pochino scomoda per chi è alto più di un metro e ottanta. Sconsigliata a chi a difficoltà motorie dato che il bagno non è collocato allo stesso piano della camera da letto. Resta assolutamente un'esperienza unica

Die Unterkunft ist zauberhaft und sehr ungewöhnlich, da man wirklich in der Dachkammer des Cafés übernachtet. Die Lage im Herzen von Saint Paul de Vence ist traumhaft und vom Bett hat man einen unglaublichen Ausblick. Frederic, ist ein toller Gastgeber mit wunderbarem Humor.

Atipico è un eufemismo

La posizione

Check in alle 16 che sono diventate le 17.30. Avremmo dovuto avere il locale libero e il proprietario lo ha liberato alle 19,30. Certo ci ha offerto birre e dolce ma non è quello che volevamo e per cui abbiamo pagato. Il WC è al piano terra, lavandino e doccia al primo piano con scale tipiche da vecchie case, la camera da letto al secondo piano (vedi la scala in legno delle foto). Quando siamo arrivati il wc era sporco (poi è stato pulito) ma eravamo comunque dentro un locale pubblico in una vecchia casa e non era pulito come una camera con cucina. La cucina era del ristorante e francamente non mi sono sentito di utilizzarla.

Soggiorno adorabile in una camera DAVVERO atipica. Consigliato!

Cameretta adorabile e il sistema col bar al piano terra e primo piano fino alle 16 che poi diventa area privata con doccia è esilarante (in senso buono, buonissimo!), e il proprietario è una forza della natura, affabile, simpatico e tanto gentile. Posizione esattamente al centro del villaggio ma su una vietta secondaria, per cui è molto tranquillo.

Nulla, ci siamo trovati davvero bene.

Logement réellement atypique à l'étage d'un petit café. Accueil dans la bonne humeur avec un verre de bienvenue. Plein centre dans une jolie ruelle pavée.

Esperienza rara, come in un film d’autore francese

Dormire in un caffè e averlo tutto per te dopo la chiusura, beh, è un’esperienza che non capita di certo tutti i giorni, davvero rara, o come dice il titolo, atipica! Il borgo di Saint Paul è da favola, soprattutto con le luminarie del periodo natalizio. Così come la stanzetta, salendo una ripida scaletta, con vista sui tetti del borgo e le montagne intorno. C’era anche una stufetta perfetta.

Avrei voluto farmi un bel bagno nella vasca, ma era troppo piccola per sdraiarsi, quindi nulla, sarà per un’altra volta
