Sant Pere Pescador is a municipality in the autonomous region of Catalonia, in the province of Girona. The town is situated on the Fluvià River, which flows into the Gulf of Roses here. The estuary, as well as most of the surrounding area up to the mouth of the La Muga River, is part of the Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, the second-largest wetland in Catalonia. The long, wide sandy beach is considered one of the most beautiful bays on the Mediterranean and is the hallmark of this resort town. Sant Pere Pescador is therefore a popular destination on the Costa Brava for campers, active vacationers, sunbathers, and water sports enthusiasts. It attracts surfers in particular—and kitesurfing and water skiing are also possible on some sections of the beach. The surrounding area is also ideal for hiking and biking.
