My wife and I stayed for two nights at the end of March. The dirt road was fine at that time and could be easily be driven in a car. The cabin has a long driveway (right of way) through the woods to the cabin on the ocean front. About half a mile from the main dirt road and easy to find. You should be able to drive that road in a car if you drive slowly. We did not encounter any snow but it was quite cold the two nights we were there. The cabin is really a two bedroom and 1.5 bath house with a loft. It is really nice inside and must not be too many years old. The house is a little chilly on the main floor during the winter, but nice and warm on the second floor loft. The bathroom and shower are really nice and warm. The hot water in the shower seems to last forever and one never wants to get out on a cold day. The bedroom on the main floor is a queen bed and is really warm and comfortable on a cold night. Upstairs are two small kids beds, a half bath, and a play area with games for kids. No TV with satellite in the house but there is a TV for video games upstairs. The wifi works really well. The view is really great from the house and the front yard. You can take some stairs down to the shore. The house and location is absolutely quiet at night. When the furnace or an appliance comes on at night, breaking the silence, it first makes you nervous because it might sound like a vehicle coming down the driveway, but rest assured, it is not. You can always close and lock the gate at the beginning of the driveway. There are no dangerous animals in the woods. In summary, it is very quiet and isolated, has a great view, and the house is very nice and modern.

I don't even know where to begin when describing absolute Heaven. We were in Maine, having traveled from New York, to lay my mom to rest in a local Angel Garden (cemetery). Derek & Nikki were so incredibly thoughtful to place a sympathy card near the fireplace which was the first thing I encountered when entering this perfect home. The road in was a pleasant adventure…we very much enjoyed bringing our new Jeep Gladiator and actually getting to travel down a road that she was made for. The seclusion of the property was exactly what I needed to get away from “The New York minute.” The Downeast Sanctuary was exactly what I needed to be able to effectuate the task at hand which was saying goodbye to my mom. Every detail of the Sanctuary was perfectly done. The view is extraordinary….the home could be picked right out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine….and I couldn't have asked for better communication from Derek and Nikki. They made my stay the (1) thing that I did not have to worry about. Check-In and Check-Out was simple. Being Retired Military…my mind was at ease that there were outdoor security cameras. Everything was perfect…in all my years of travel from Russia…Germany…various deployments…and all other places in the states...the Downeast Sanctuary has been my favorite. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back again very soon. Hoping to make it a yearly date for my wife and I now. Thank You Kindly! Respectfully, U.S. Army CPT. (RET) Adams & Dr. Stacy Adams (Saratoga, New York).
