Cape Mae Apartment Hotel

It is walking distance to the beach & local shops. The staff are responsive and helpful, they supplied additional items after sharing feedback which was great to see. Included breakfast is your choice a few blocks away at the main hotel or they can deliver & you can customise from a limited selection. Keep in mind it is not a hotel in the true sense it is more like a serviced apartment with some hotel-like features. We got a heavily discounted deal which was good but the property needs better upkeep & the general guest experience could be made warmer.

The included airport transfer isn't in their branded vehicle it is with a 3rd party company and a person's private vehicle to the main hotel. Then you are transferred a few blocks away to this apartment block which wasn't made clear prior to our stay and not as the photos would have you perceive. Not the end of the world but an interesting experience. You hear everything from the hallways & garage downstairs as walls/doors/windows are thin. So heating/cooling also challenging even with small heater provided. There is no air conditioning so be aware in summer months. If you are unlucky, as we were, you can have some groups / parties going on where you hear everything. There is no lift, so if you are on the top floor it is 6 or so flights of stairs. Simple things like toothbrush holder, hand soap not provided just small things to make the stay a bit easier/nicer. The cutlery/pots/pans quite cheap & flimsy, they helped us to replace. The fridge didn't work & was frosted over, they were very fast to replace it. The sofa had lots of stains and marks on it, we used the bed throw to cover over it. Outdoor furniture/bbq rusted/corroded due to sea air, they gave us plastic cover to go over it so we could use it. Sliding door difficult to shut as not aligned to frame properly. Some of the stair treads were coming away from the edges & were sharp.

The breakfast was fine although very minimal, although I wish we had an option of choosing the type of eggs we needed, I personally don’t like the scrambled eggs and omelette, the bed on the second bedroom is very uncomfortable

I wish they can add hand soap especially for the bathroom and bath soap

The place is very close to the beach. Not far from the shops. Housekeeping was also good. I liked the balcony too. The children also loved the TV options.

*Cape Mae prepared very nice breakfast and dinner. We liked the professionalism of the staff in making us feel at home. that was true hospitality. I really commend them for that. Keep up the good work. *food delivery was also a convenience to us *We liked the warm water for showering, you have invested well when it comes to that *The surbub is a very nice and quiet area, we loved it to bits.

*We were turned off straight away by finding the cockroaches on the kitchen tops in the evenings,and by that time we want to have a nice cup of coffee.but looking around the zink area and finding those insects was not a good feeling. we even found them in the bedroom, we were asking ourselves why are there a lot of them in the unit we booked at? it was a complete deal breaker. *We would suggest the property invest in at least queen size blankets as well, One blanket was torn and didnt match the nice apartment. the blankets are for a single beds and looked like throws. they might be fine in summer but in the cold Cape Town weather, it turns visitors off. *For the duration of our stay the stairs were not swept since we saw the same dirt since day one untill we left. * The shower floor is slippery and one can fall badly.
