A gem of a place! Highly recommend you check this little piece of paradise out!

The location of this villa was perfect for me! Quiet, secluded yet close enough to Ubud for other activities if that is your desire! For me I just enjoyed the serenity! Watching fathers and son’s fishing in the pond, farmers working in the fields and the butterflies and birds going about their business was the perfect escape from the rat race of Legian! The staff were attentive not intrusive and nothing was too much trouble for them! The breakfasts were great way to start each day! Wifi worked perfectly!

Comfortable, Caring Stay Near Ubud

We recently spent three nights at Rumah Tengah Sawah, approx 40min from Ubud. From the moment we booked, the owner Ayu went above and beyond to ensure our comfort—especially as I was recovering from a fractured leg. Ayu thoughtfully arranged airport transport and coordinated with our driver to drop us directly at the villa, avoiding the narrow farm road that leads to the villas. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Ayu and her team were always available and incredibly attentive. When I fell ill on the first night, Ayu kindly had her staff prepare a soothing ginger and honey tea and even offered to arrange a doctor’s visit, a thoughtful act of kindness. The accommodation was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. There’s a well-stocked and clean local shop—Toko Kartika Jaya—nearby for essentials. We also indulged in the 60-minute Spirulina Facial and 120-minute Massage with Warm Stones, both of which were incredibly relaxing and highly recommended.

The location is remote. Sekar 1 Villa is closer to the main road and Warung Semana, a local restaurant, making it a lot noisier at night and during the day with constant traffic.

Cons • AC trips the power. • Desk unsuitable for work. • Bat droppings on bed; cleanliness lacking. • Missing basics on check-in (no mugs/cutlery). • Safe advertised but missing; installed only after days of follow-up; late instructions/PIN. • Patchy internet. • No kitchen; bathroom sink blocked when washing fruit. • ~1 hour by car to Central Ubud each way (time-consuming and costly). • Communication difficult. • No mosquito nets (windows/bed). • Cheap breakfast/amenities (plastic cutlery, repetitive fruit).

Misleading reviews, property needs serious maintenance

The room and bed were comfortable.

The previous reviews here are misleading. The resort is very far from any places in ubud. It is not reachable by car. The view is not good, there is some hut and road right in front. The property is not well managed. The locks are creaking, sundecks and outside area is not clean or usable. It was having spiders in bathroom when we checked-in. The light in room was sparkling which looked dangerous and there was hardly any experience staff to handle it. The staff is sweet but not professional, it was really hard to communicate because they didn't knew english at all, specially the night guy. The bathroom lacked ventilation and there were no bathrobes. Lastly, the breakfast was not good for the price. It has very limited just one option. You can get much better stay options in this price in Ubud. Dont go by the rating, its false.

Can’t wait to come bald

Just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city yet close enough to not feel isolated. Firstly, i have to thank their amazing staff who ensured every little detail was taken care of, your hospitality was truly appreciated. The villa itself is spacious yet cozy and having your own pool steps away from your bed with amazing views of the rice fields was spectacular. Anyone looking for some peace and quiet amids beautiful scenery and people, this place is for you!

Nothing except because it’s a bit further away from the shops, an extra tip for the delivery riders will go along way.

It was such a beautiful space, well maintained, comfy beds and the views were so nice. The staff were incredibly thoughtful and ordered food for me. Just had a wonderful time. I loved how peaceful it was.

Has it all and more

I loved everything about my stay. Aside from the usual, comfy bed, everything as described etc the things that really stood out to me was the shower, amazing water pressure! Nestled in the rice fields with a BEAUTIFUL walking path behind where people farm flowers, beans and veg, don’t miss it!, three beautiful and well kept cats live here in the office, I don’t usually book jogolo style houses because they’re dark but having the front glass doors made the space really bright, the villas aren’t back to back which I love so you won’t hear your neighbours watching tv or flushing the toilet, mini supermarket across the road, ten mins on the bike to ubud and far enough away from the traffic thankfully. Ubud is very busy now so I never stay central, this location is perfect. The best part of my stay was the staff, Balinese people are so kind but Kadek and her team were incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Hoping to re book for September

Absolutely fabulous stay!

Everything about this stay was absolutely wonderful! The staff was on top of every question I had and every request I made. To say this place is absolutely amazing would be an understatement. There are rice fields in the front and rice fields in the back with a beautiful view of Mt. Agung in the distance. I had everything I needed for rest & relaxation including a gorgeous walking path through the rice fields. That being said, I was also very close to a wonderful warung just across the street and 5 minutes from the morning and night markets. I will be staying there again very soon and I can hardly wait!

There was a clog in the bathroom sink but they fixed it immediately so I can't say anything but good things about that experience.

Staying at Villa Sekar 1 at Rumah Tengah Sawah in Mambal, Ubud was a most peaceful retreat for me. Although situated outside of the busy Ubud centre, there were plenty of shops close by to pick up anything you require for your stay. There are many Warungs close by and most are open from 10am to 10pm. I found a very good one just across the road. If you love yoga and meditation, there are plenty of venues for classes close to Mambal and Ubud. I particularly liked the set up of this villa, as it had a huge balcony where I’d practise yoga and a bale with comfy rolled mats to use for meditation each morning and/or at night and see the sunset. The Bale was also great to take refuge from the sun and catch up on some reading, as was the built in day bed - the ‘nook’. I used this area in the late afternoon, for chilling with a drink, as well as to eat breakfast in the morning, whilst enjoying the lovely view of the rice fields. To the back of the villas are more rice fields where you can stroll along the pathways and catch a view of Mt Agung. It was so peaceful and tranquil. Fantastic for peace, rest and recuperation. The staff are very respectful, polite, caring and very happy to support you in any way. I felt very safe here and the free WiFi was great! My heart-felt thanks to the manager Nia, she went over and above to ensure I had everything I needed for a most enjoyable and memorable stay. Thank you to all staff for a fabulous stay!!

It’s a not an issue, more just a little note for other guests, there is only motorbike access to the villas. However, if you are coming by car, it is only a very short walk to the villas from the car parking area. The staff will collect any luggage you have and take this to the villa for you. So, you can enjoy a close up view of the rice fields as you walk to the villa!

A serene and unforgettable retreat surrounded by breathtaking rice fields.

I loved the peaceful surroundings of Rumah Tengah Sawah, nestled right in the middle of lush rice fields. The villa’s design blends modern comfort with traditional Balinese charm, and the private pool overlooking the greenery was a highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect spot to relax and disconnect, while still being close enough to Ubud’s cultural attractions. Waking up to the sounds of nature and breathtaking views of the rice paddies was truly unforgettable.

There’s very little to dislike, but the villa’s secluded location means it’s a bit off the main road, which could be inconvenient if you don’t have your own transport. The surrounding nature also means you might encounter insects occasionally, but that’s expected in such a lush environment and part of the charm of staying so close to nature.

Séjour exceptionnel

Un véritable petit coin de paradis ! La villa avec piscine privée était juste incroyable : spacieuse, propre, décorée avec goût, et surtout avec une vue imprenable sur la rizière… c’était magique. J’ai adoré le fait d’avoir un espace rien qu’à soi, au calme, pour se détendre pleinement. La piscine privée est un vrai luxe, on peut en profiter à toute heure, sans personne autour. Le petit déjeuner servi directement dans la villa chaque matin, c’est la cerise sur le gâteau : varié, copieux et délicieux. Franchement, tout était top, j’ai adoré mon séjour du début à la fin. Je reviendrai sans hésiter !

Le seul petit bémol pour moi : quelques insectes, mais avec la végétation luxuriante autour, c’est normal… et puis, je l’avoue, je suis un peu peureuse 😂 ! Malgré ça, tout était vraiment génial. Je recommande les yeux fermés !

Leider haben wir anhand der Bewertungen eine andere Unterkunft erwartet. Es gibt eine Hütte mit Blick auf die Reisfelder. Die anderen beiden schauen zur Straße und sind nicht wirklich ruhig gelegen. Die Unterkunft war spärlich eingerichtet und insgesamt lieblos in Stand gehalten. Da die Unterkunft uns keine Freude bereitet hat, sind wir direkt wieder abgereist. Die drei Tage haben wir dennoch voll gezahlt. Zum selben Preis haben wir eindeutig bessere Angebote im selben Umkreis gefunden.

Emplacement au milieu des rizières et à l'écart de l'agitation. Proximité d'un warung (Semana) qui fait de la bonne cuisine locale. Piscine propre est bien proportionnée. Personnel attentionné et très serviable.

Tra le risaie a 20 minuti da Ubud

Questa struttura ha una posizione meravigliosa, in quanto da accesso a un sentiero che si perde nelle risaie con panorami che mi hanno lasciata davvero a bocca aperta. È tranquillo e immerso nel verde. I bungalows sono spaziosi, con la cucina e un grande bagno. Viene eseguita la pulizia tutte le mattine. Lo staff è gentile e disponibile, attento agli ospiti. La colazione mi è piaciuta molto, si può scegliere tra diverse opzioni e viene servita al mattino all’orario che si preferisce. Inoltre avere una piccola piscina privata rende sicuramente tutto ancora più bello.

Einzigartige Nächte in den Reisfeldern

Die Unterkunft liegt in einer sehr einmaligen Lage mitten in den Reisfeldern was dafür sorgt, dass es dort unglaublich leise ist. Man hört keine Autos ringsrum man hört nur die wunderschöne Natur, die Unterkunft bietet ein direkten Blick auf die Reisfelder Ebenfalls ist der Ort Ubud direkt in der Nähe. Dort befinden sich wunderschöne Tempel und der Affenwald ich arbeite selbst in der Hotelbranche in Deutschland. Und ich bin echt beeindruckt von dem Team vor Ort. Es ist wirklich sehr selten so einen guten Service zu haben

Mooi verblijf, genoten!

Het zwembad beviel goed, het fijne bed en goede douche. Het personeel doet erg zijn best en wil overal mee helpen. Ze staan erg open voor feedback en hebben direct kussens voor op de stoelen geregeld en zitzakken voor bij het zwembad zodat je niet meer op de harde ondergrond hoeft te liggen/zitten.

Er is twee keer schoongemaakt in 8 dagen verblijf. We begrijpen dat er niet overal dagelijks wordt schoongemaakt, maar de vuilnisbakjes puilde bijvoorbeeld uit en we gebruikte plastic tassen als extra vuilniszak. Als we erom vroegen kregen we wel een nieuwe handdoek.
