Beautiful forest lodge in an ideal place, superb cycling all around. First time visit to the Netherlands feel as though I saw the real Netherlands. Cycling through the forest and in cities (Zwolle) was great, lovely people, superb well maintained roads to drive on and a great cycling infrastructure. The lodge has everything you need, really great wifi, shower, kitchen facilities. Hosts were away but great communication via what’s app messaging. I would easily stay here again.

We loved the quiet, green forest setting - plenty of birds to watch, and even a squirrel was spotted darting about through the overhead canopy. The greenery was very refreshing and restorative for us. We had a few chilly nights and the gas heating worked well. We enjoyed the outdoor seating - a nice spot to sit and relax when it was sunny, or have a drink and some nibbles in the evening. We also enjoyed being able to walk to the nearby heath area and explore nearby towns on foot. The hosts responded very quickly and kindly to our questions and helped us resolve issues without fuss. The cottage was well supplied with things like batteries (when the remote control battery needed replacing), toilet paper, and cleaning supplies.

While the bed was comfortable, we found the bedroom (and the bed) a bit small - no space for luggage - and we hit our heads on the overhead storage cupboards in the middle of the night, which was not fun (we let the hosts know about that and they said they would look into how to resolve that for the future). There was a coffee maker, but no coffee supplied so we weren't able to use it until we had been shopping (we didn't have a car, so we weren't able to bring much food or other supplies with us, and the nearest supermarket was about 30 min walk). There were some sachets of sugar and creamer, but the creamer sachets were stiff and unusable, so I threw them out.
