This is a beautiful, quiet apartment in a historic building, very close to the city centre and many restaurants and cafés. The location is excellent and easily walkable to major attractions such as the botanical gardens, the river, the Munch Museum, the Opera House, the Grunerlokka, and much more. It is also very well connected by public transport, including the metro and buses. In 30 minutes, you can get to Bygdoy, Holmenkollen or Lake Sognsvann. The apartment has a fully furnished kitchen, making it easy to prepare meals rather than relying on takeout or eating out. There are several grocery stores nearby, as well as many restaurants offering Indian, Turkish, Halal, and African cuisine, including great takeout options. There is also a friendly Joker grocery store right on the corner where you can find almost everything you may need during your stay. If you can't find something, just ask. Larger grocery stores such as Meny and REMA 1000 are about a 10-minute walk away. The apartment is on the first floor (one flight of stairs up) with secure entry doors to the building and the apartment, so it feels very safe. What I loved most was that it has windows on two sides. The living area gets plenty of sunshine and warms up nicely during the day, while the two bedrooms face the quiet courtyard and stay cooler, which is perfect for sleeping. On one side, the neighbourhood is lively and diverse, and we personally felt safe throughout our stay, including in the evenings. There was regular street activity nearby, but it never negatively affected our experience. On the other side, towards the botanical gardens, the neighbourhood is quiet and family-oriented. I especially enjoyed having coffee in the sunny living room in the morning before heading out to explore the city. The apartment would work really well for a longer stay, remote work or for anyone wanting a comfortable base while exploring Oslo. Everything worked smoothly, from check-in to check-out.
At times, we could occasionally smell cigarette smoke coming either from neighbouring apartments or from outside, but it was only temporary and did not affect our stay.

Torstein is an exceptional host, and the two bedroom apartment was really beautiful, spacious and had everything you'd want. He was very responsive to any of our needs. Torstien is definitely one of the best hosts, and his place is one of the finest lodgings I've booked in Europe or the US.
I didn't love the location. Gamle seems to have a large Muslim/North African immigrant community, so there are not many restaurants or shops that might appeal to more western tastes that you could walk to, which was the Scandanavian experience I was looking for. The locals weren't at all friendly, and it was a good 30 or 45 minute walk to get to museums and restaurants with more diverse menus. There was a lot of graffiti on the walls along the streets and on the beautiful heavy wooden doors to the apartment building that clearly had to be painted over frequently. The next time I visit Oslo I will pick a place more central to downtown where I can walk to restaurants and historical sites.

The place is done up so beautifully with lovely colours, plants and all facilities you can think of. Each piece of furniture , appliance and interior has been put together so thoughtfully that adds to the experience. It is centrally located and well connected to all modes of transport so it really helps you go around the city with ease. The host is sooper warm, left us very easy to follow and clear instructions and ensured we had a great stay and experience of oslo! The place photographs so well , highly recommend for a nice warm city stay to make some beautiful memories !
Everything was great ! No complaints
