De ole Villa - Swallow's Nest, a Nordic atmosphere in a bright attic

With the North Sea and the Baltic Sea just a stone’s throw away, nestled in the idyllic countryside of North Frisia and surrounded by heathland and forest, lies “De ole Villa”—a magical place for a carefree vacation surrounded by nature.

Beneath magnificent old ceiling beams in rooms up to 3.20 meters high lies the cozy “Swalbennest,” a light-filled, supremely comfortable vacation apartment brimming with atmosphere and featuring a typically Nordic, minimalist style.

Soft colors, natural materials, atmospheric lighting, and a mix of design classics and ultra-modern furnishings create a dreamlike ambiance that promotes a sense of well-being. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer an enchanting view of the greenery from every room.

From the bedroom, furnished with high-quality box-spring beds, you can step out onto your private balcony and, from there, descend a spiral staircase into your own garden area. There, you’ll find another outdoor seating area and sun loungers. When the weather is nice, you can relax and enjoy the sun here or explore the surrounding area on e-bikes. The pavilion, furnished with lounge furniture, is a pleasant retreat where you can enjoy the warming rays of the sun in the garden even on windy days.

In the open-concept kitchen-living room with top-of-the-line amenities, you can start your vacation days on a relaxed note and wind down the evening on the sofa after a delightful dinner.

Especially during the cooler months, after a long walk along the roaring North Sea, the wonderful warmth and cozy atmosphere by the crackling fireplace, as well as the small sauna with a skylight—where you can completely unwind and relax under the sparkling starry sky on clear nights—are especially soothing.

“De ole Villa” (Standard German: the old villa) was completed in 1900. In 2021, we fully equipped the “Swalbennest” vacation rental with modern comforts, using historic building materials, wood-fiber insulation, mineral-based paints and plasters to ensure a healthy living environment, and natural materials such as oak parquet and natural stone floors.

The “Swalbennest” is located on the first floor and features floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a wonderful view of the surrounding greenery (nature reserve) and fascinating natural spectacles.

Furnished in a typical Nordic, minimalist style—with a subdued color palette, atmospheric lighting, select one-of-a-kind pieces, and design classics—the rooms exude a calm, friendly atmosphere.

In the well-designed, open-concept kitchen—equipped with brand-name appliances, plenty of kitchen gadgets, and high-quality tableware—cooking and dining become a vacation pleasure. High-quality hotel-style box-spring beds and insect screens on the windows ensure a restful night’s sleep. A wellness bathroom with views of nature from the rain shower or dual-seater bathtub, soothing sauna sessions with a view of the starry sky, and cozy evenings by the fireplace make this apartment the perfect place for a relaxing vacation.
