Family-Friendly Lakeside Getaway in the Heart of Traverse City!

I will preface my review by saying that the host refunded us One Night’s Stay. The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. However, I spent over four hours cleaning the outside spaces from bugs, spiders, mosquitoes, other insects, cobwebs and debris from everywhere. And another 2 hours cleaning and re-organizing the kitchen. Owners had left all cupboards, drawers and pantry overflowing with their own personal foods, Medicine bottles, vitamins, supplements, half eaten bags of crackers and potato chips, etc., Costco-sized things. Cookie sheets put away dirty. Owner’s refrig items had to be taken downstairs to their second refrigerator so we could have room for our food.Kitchen windows filthy. Shelves and windowsills were full of Knick knacks, and a big jar of cooking grease that was quite disgusting. Magnetic spice cans attached to the sides of cabinet panels, greasy and dusty. There was no paper towel, no paper napkins. Along with that, there was no welcome sheet or booklet with things about the house - wifi info, instructions, what to do with garbage and sheets upon departure, emergency procedures. !!!!It seemed as though the owner was not expecting to have guests arriving for a week’s stay at their home!!!! We spoke several times and he was willing to be helpful but not very well informed of the requirements of VRBO home rental. This was by far the worst one I’ve ever visited. I would make sure that he has made sufficient changes before renting again. Lots of kids toys available.
