Senzairou

Yoro town offers a good window into "true" Japan in a way most common tourist destinations do not. The town is very remote, sparsely populated, and is full of so many much natural beauty. Senzairou is tucked deep into the mountain, and yoro falls is a must see. The staff is very accomodating, and the hotel is also a beautiful artifact of history. The dinner and breakfasts provided were interesting and unique, and the portion sizes are very large! I have nothing but praise for this ryokan. If you're looking to go to Japanese vacation destinations not crowded by tourists, this is a must see.

Being so remote, the staff doesn't speak much english. If you have rudimentary japanese and use a translator it isn't a problem. They're very accommodating, and have english menus and instructions present. I don't think this is a negative, but tourists should be aware that this town/train/shops are primarily japanese first and tourist should be prepared for that. Personally, I think this is a positive thing!

Very relaxing and beautiful grounds with a lovely sitting area as well as beautiful view from our room. It felt very genuine and traditional Japanese. We felt very welcomed. The dinner and breakfast were also very good and we enjoyed a bottle of champagne which was great!

運よく落語会の日の利用となり、大変素晴らしい時間を過ごすことができました。 庭の桜が満開で、食事も美味しく、その点は大満足でした。 歴史ある貴重な建物の維持管理は大変でしょうが、これからも地域資源として守ってほしいと思います。

古い建物なので大変でしょうが、建物周りや庭などの手入れが…。
