A nice hostel in the heart of Takayama. Easy walk to most attractions, and to restaurants, bars, and shopping. They offer free washer/dryers, an area to leave your luggage with locks (but in the open), and have tea and coffee available. I found my matress uncomfortable (could feel the slats underneath), but still slept well as it is quiet. The common area is small and setup in a way that makes it less likely to start a conversation. The 1 staff person I met was nice and was working hard keeping the place in shape. All other staff interactions were electronic. I booked for 2 nights and ended up extending 2 more.

The place was well kept, staff is friendly. there is a rooftop bar on one of their hostels, all guests from these hostels can visit that during sunset hours.

It was a really good to stay, 15 min walking by the train and bus station.
They have washing machine and dryer for free !!

It's a basic hostel, good for a couple of nights. The rooms are not very spacious and they get crowded and messy with everyone's luggage. There's no physical staff there, they do everything remotely and I find it a bit impersonal, not warm or welcoming. Washing and drying machine were free, so that's a bonus. Stairs are very narrow and steep, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone travelling with a suitcase
